Has anyone here managed to get hold of an Asus 5850 yet?

No one can atm. Asus have been one of the companies that ain't produced "many" at launch. However, I think they are due in at around 3 weeks.

If you're comfortable flashing the BIOS just get whichever brand is in stock, aside from warranty they're all the same hardware.

I bought this particular brand for reasons I can't mention on here but the rest of my build is arriving on the 22nd so I was hoping that I would have it by then. Also, do all of the cards still come with Dirt 2? I read up on the forums that the sapphire cards don't any longer but just wondering if others still do? Cheers

ATI produces all the cards, not sure at which step the big manufacturers have a hand if at all?

Deadmans right, I believe ATI are basically making the cards at the moment, so not sure it matter which manufacturer you get it from. None standard cards are starting to drip in I think these are maybe the first of the cards built from chips supplied to the vendors but not sure.
Why the big pull towards the ASUS card ?

I should have worded that better, as i didn't mean as in they make their cards, as i know its Sapphire who makes them all, and then they all just get branded.

I was seeing estimates elsewhere of the 12th for stock to appear, but the ETA has changed again to 4+ weeks

I got stung by this, ordered cards that were supposed to come in on the 12th, now estimated delivery is the 22/2 D:... thanks but no thanks.

Asus seem pretty poor supplying cards, and Sapphire are my next choice. Also, although I've not been able to test this, MSI Afterburner should be able to voltmod the 5850 without flashing a BIOS.

I contacted that same place and they said the ETA is now the 13th. The website still shows 4+ weeks. I doubt we'll see them next week either.

Well considering most sites haven't even got an ETA for Asus cards at the moment, it was kinda wishful thinking that it'd be that close. Also, probably worth mentioning, said website keeps putting their ETA back and back, every time it reaches 5-7 days it goes back to 4+ weeks, in all honesty, when OcUK and other noteable websites start getting stock in, then I may be more inclined to pre-order from them, but right now they're making promises they can't keep :rolleyes:

My friend received his today and it came with dirt 2 so hopefully mine will too

Where can't say and when pretty much on release ( about three weeks after I think) for £281 delivered
