Excuse my ignorance, but what substantiates this claim? I've been on the lookout for a decent, well priced 24" since the 2209WA went up in price.

Yes there is still cheaper out there from the likes of Hannspree and Digimate but for that little extra I'd rather have a BenQ.

OK, just thought I was missing something.

The contrast ratio is OK, but for only a little more you can get monitors that are better. 3 year onsite warranty is prettymuch standard for these panels I'm sure, BenQ are an OK brand, never had any bad experiences but I'm not always raving about their design of the products. The response time seems pretty standard for a panel of this size.

For sub £150 it's a good panel, though I wouldn't say it's got a very good spec compared to other TN panels out there. Only ones cheaper and about the same price tbh.

It seems the trend is more towards 16:9 monitors in the 24" size category (at least at the lower end of the price spectrum). Is this right or am I just looking in all the wrong places?

I already have a 24" monitor with a 16:10 aspect ratio which is great and at some point I plan on buying another to go with it when the prices drop (I don't need anything fantastic, just a reliable TN panel will be fine) but it seems my chances of getting a 16:10 are dropping. Am I better off just getting a 16:9 and living with the monitors being different sizes? It wouldn't be a massive problem as my 19" 4:3 doesn't look great next to the 24" anyway...

I disagree. Acer monitors for example are more expensive, not quite as good spec wise (unless you go for a higher model) and don't include an on-site warranty.

There is similar available for a little more but at the end of the day this panel hits a price point. If you want higher spec then you can happily pay a bit more money.

To be honest I think 16:10 panels will be gone within 6-12 months thanks to the launch of Blu-ray. The panel manufacturers seem to think we don't like black bars anymore and have altered them accordingly.

Not what I want to here, have been wanting to buy a secondary for a while but now that Ive got the cash the models I was looking at are gone. That extra height really does make a difference.

16:10 panels are still easily available but they just seem to be going into premium monitors now whereas all the cheap TNs have moved to 16:9 as production costs are reducing due to big supply.

How high does the monitor stand off the surface? The gap between the surface and the start of the bezel on the panel.
