Paypal are stealing off me?

I ran into an issue with paypal, where I owed them 178.99, this was dealt with a debt collector firm which worked with Paypal, and I've since paid them as of last thursday, and I felt that I was now able to open up a new account with paypal.

So, having opened up a new account and getting verified with paypal, I notice than my available balance within my bank is 10.00 less than it was earlier, I check a little later, it's now 12.50 less.

I rang my bank halifax ASAP, they've said that the money is being removed from Paypal and there's nothing they can do about it.

What do I do about this?, they've no reason to remove the money from my account.

Here's the paypal email conversation thus far, read bottom up.

You may be missing this, but there ISN'T any information about the transaction in my Paypal account, which means there isn't a transaction ID etc.
I can more than verifry I'm the owner of the paypal account and bank account in question.
Basically, increments of 2 pound 50 are being removed from my Halifax Bank account, this was confirmed after I rang up Halifax.
I wish to know why this money is becoming removed from my account, I can gladly give a screenshot of my Halifax account which shows 12.50 difference from my balance and my available balance (However there's no recent activity to show the actual transaction, just a loss in sum of money), I'll gladly show my paypal account which shows that there isn't any transaction being made.
It's just money being removed from my account. I want to know why, and for it to be returned to me, rightfully.

edit: ^well if it is that irrelevant why the hell tell us in the first place? you could have just left that out.

Ring Paypal.

And how on earth did you owe them £178.99 and you paid them? :o

Chargeback leaving the account negative?

him never paying it and them getting fed up?

Guess. I use paypal to process card payments only, buying.

Basically, an Ebay transaction messed up, and I then had to deal with Iqor debt recovery for Paypal, I paid the money off fine, hence selling my 5870/SSD.

Paypal have taken money off my brother in the past for no reason, he managed to get it all back.

He had an interview with his bank, and they sorted it all out in the end for him. I don't understand that if there is valid proof Paypal is taking money from your account without any reason, then the bank needs to do something about it because technically, your screwed if the bank does nothing.

My bank said there was nothing they could do, but indeed said that the money was being removed by paypal.

That sounds like the confirmation amount for verifying the account. but rather than taking two payments out, then refunding it. It's gone wrong.

As said phone paypal up and ask. if they know nothing, then phone bank back up and say you have not authorised the money.

I assume during verifcation they give you two amounts, in my case 3 pence and 20 pence, not remove money?

Ah maybe it's been like 8 years since I did it.

But still phone them up. Why ask us we can't tell you. If they know nothing then just tell the bank it has not been authorised and to treat it as fraud,
