basically im after a big drum of 5w40 fully synth

ive tried the usual suspects for prices and nothing is coming back thats a remarkable bargain apart from the place over the road to where i live who will do 25L of Carlube 5w40 triple R that comes back at £2.49 per litre incl vat

i cant find any data to say whether its the best oil in the world or not

i can get 20L of fuchs titan at £3.91 a litre, but thats not much better than their off the shelf price for 4L cans

anyone know of any other bargains out there?

my local vw dealer will do it cheaper than that and they cant do discount on oil.

they want £59.99 + vat and i collect it from just around the corner

id love to find some quantum gold tbh

he has given me a price for some motul 100% synthetic stuff that worked out at £4.16 a litre, a really good price but its competing with quantum platinum at £3.52 a litre

tell him where you stand, or ask for different oil prices

he may or may not give you a lower price, a customer is a customer :)

also with each order, it gives you a % off the next order

20 or 25L isn't really a "drum" of oil and you won't see a huge discount.

You need to start talking to distributors about standard 209L drums to see really good discounts, but you probably won't need this much.

Costco have 5W-40 fully synth Chevron oil in 20 or 25L containers at very reasonable prices, I can't remember exactly but I think just under £40. It's not retailed in the UK but it's decent stuff apparently.

Morris oil - Shrewsbury. Really good quality and can buy in huge sizes. I get it dirt cheap because I know the MD :x

morris, can you place an order for me then? ;)

the chevron stuff would be ok but ive not been to cosco for ages. ill see if anyone i know is a member.

anything more than 30L would be pretty overkill for me

He used to be on Kernow Kruz, I think he is local.

I'm quite a frugal person (I drive a Skoda FFS) but surely compared to the prices you have already found for Quantum Platinum from your local VW dealer won't the savings be in the region of about £2 every 10,000 miles? Is it really worth it?

true, i actually hadnt looked at it that way (and i wouldnt even be keeping it in that long) but im just trying to avoid paying absolutely silly oil prices and at the same time i do need a fair bit for a load of car bits im doing over the next couple weekends.

i suppose its january too so i want to minimise this particular cost, but id does seem the quantum platinum from the dealer is the best bet

haha i heard they love group buys on 5w30 fuchs titan fully synth. £17 5L from gsf off the shelf but they do group buys, bad times!
