Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

Been waiting ages for this seeing as I used to play BF2 quite a lot back in the day, I'm guessing this will cripple my machine like BF2 did with my old P4 machine back in 2005.

It will have approximately 175 different vehicles (including moveable carriers and remote controlled UAVs), 208 different weapons, and a total of 9740 possible permutations when weapon modifications are factored in. It is also rummored that the ranking up system in BF3 will take approximately 2.5 times as long as it did in BF2.

Up to 128 player support but limited to 80 for retail version maps. The 3D engine (modified version of the frosbite engine) is actually capable of supporting 192 players but limited due to lack of cpu power and memory resources on current gen hardware; internet bandwidth is apparently not so much of a limitation due to yet undisclosed packet allocation algorithms being implemented solely for bf3 (and possibly PC version of BC2).

Has it even been confirmed? All I've heard was the pre-Bad Company rumours that it would run on the Frostbite DX engine.

It was mistakenly let slip by some exec during a talk a while back, DICE then confirmed its existance and have literally said NOTHING about it since, any rumours have just been made up.

Thats interesting, hoping theres no OTT weapons though and that its quite balanced. I do agree you should get some better perks with more time player... but it isnt half a **** take when you have to put in hundreds of hours when you're only playing for some fun, and being handicapped by poor kit.

Think of BC2 as EA's way of seeing what works in next gen FPS, in which they will take the best bits and use them in BF3 but in a 10x bigger scale.

That's what I think anyway.

Where have you heard that? I have heard NOTHING about this game apart from the fact it exists, for all we know it could be console exclusive.

use google and type in bf3 leaked, that document has been around for about 3 years now
Basically BC2 is the blueprinted testing ground for BF3
Also DICE has officialy confirmed they are working on BF3 in Sweden

I wonder how profitable bf2 was for EA/Dice, surely its huge success must be an incentive for them to create a proper sequel. I can understand the huge amounts of resources required to develop such a game, but then again it doesn't have to be hugely different from bf2 to be sucessful.
