It's that time of the year...

I don't mind new people, I'm more annoyed with the youngish regulars who sit on the chest press, leg press etc.. talking on the phone.

Sit on a bike since theres 8 of them and noones on any. Don't sit on something theres only 1 of.

Why go to the gym to run for 5 mins and walk about on the phone for the other 30 minutes. I leave my phone in my locker or put it on silent.

How are you getting on with them?

Are you using them on the side to some strength/mass training?
Have you noticed any change in body composition? Body fat? Endurance?

Gym I go to hasn't been overly busy the past few weeks which is good. Probably the insane fee they charge. It's close to £100 per month

Agreed. Talk is cheap. Stop talking and ****ing lift dammit!

People who go there and are keen and work hard I support and am happy to share with.

People that use it for a social apect and throw a couple of DBs around and do very little in terms of training can GTFO imo.

Speaking of people on their phones I was in the gym the other day with a mate whos been a member for a while but isnt the most regualr of attenders, but anyway hes decided he wants to get in shape for his summer holiday.
I was on the rower doing a quick 5min warm up before jumping on the bikes for some HIIT and I seen him jump on the treadmill, good times I thought until I looked in the mirror and he had slowed down to a crawl to use his phone anyway to cut a long story short he done this a few more times so I chased him into the locker room to put his phone away and then marched him back in when he tried to escape after doing 20mins of nothing.
Its going to kill me getting him into shape more than its going to kill him :D

Doing them alongside others as part of a full body routine - I tend to do them first off.

I'm enjoying doing something different, but I'm not all too convinced on their benefit - though having said that it's only been a couple of weeks. I think endurance has improved doing them and I've upped from 30kg to 35kg in the past week as I found it was starting to get less painful:p. They'll certainly get you sweating and forearm pump is pretty immense.

The pyramid down version of 6 reps, 5 reps, 4 reps etc is easier than trying to do a full 3X6 but you're more likely to complete each full set without dropping the bar. I'm still playing about at the moment TBH!

Luckily the gym I use is used by hardly anyone, despite it being completely free. It was pretty busy yesterday but that was mainly rowers doing trials on the ergs.

The new people I have seen do seem to be genuinely committed. Some university cyclist showed up with his own "bike treadmill" and proceeded to cycle at 400W for about 90 minutes. Seriously inspiring power and endurance.

I'm just really inpatient when i'm at the gym, although I can't really complain as i'm getting it free due to knowing some of the staff members :)

That's insane? I hope some decent "massages" are included in the price ;)

I'm a loner in the gym, have a few mates that I exchange some words with now and again but that's about it. I hate those that use it purely for a social gathering and showing off.

Don't know what my gyms like......cos i've not built up the will power to get there so far this year. :(
We got a dog before xmas and walking her in the a.m. puts paid to the gym at that time.
And evenings just aint happening yet. Need to get motivated soon though.
On the plus side, i was sick as a parrot all xmas day and so didn't put any weight on! \o/

Balance restored!!! :D

It's always this week too. It like "Oh I'll just settle in back to work the first week and start next week".

'tis like being in a Zoo, people peering in every five minutes. I hate these pouncy iPod gyms. Got no choice though :(

haha I wish.
Just a complete rip-off. I only pay around the equivalent of £16 per month but that's through the company I work for. Normal members are charged insane prices!

We've only had a couple of new faces so far. I was watching this one guy and his mate yesterday (haha it works the other way too!) who had zero motivation and... well I can't even suitably describe them. The one fella was on a seated shoulder press machine, must have been about 16-17 and 7 stone, chewing gum while he half assed repped 5kg with his mate actively spotting him. I couldn't help but stare wide eyed :O He had such a weird look of indifference.

My training partner is the biggest lad <25 in the gym but he loves it when people stare and whips his trousers down to his ankles 9/10... His legs are really good but its enough of a shock for newbies to look away :p

Where do you train, iirc you're in Dudley?

Its one of the reasons why I like to train early in the morning,I go to a Fitness First, and it will be hell at peak times until about March.Mind I decided to train in the quiet period cos the big lads put me off, being new to weights, it can be a bit unnerving venturing into the testosterone pit:p Now that ive got into it a bit I dont feel the least bit anxious, I think im the only one that uses the squat rack:eek:

I also can’t wait until Feb, I go to 3 times a week all, the cardio machines are in use by obesely overweight middle aged women walking very slowly while reading a magazine. Makes my blood boil

I’m all up for people getting fit but how they expect to get any results!?!? no wonder why the majority of FAT people stop going to the gym by Feb March latest.

That's nothing, I've seen people take laptops and cycle slowly while watching a movie in the gym :p
