Call of Duty:World At War

Ive been a die hard fan of the series since being blown away by the demo of the original call of duty on the PC all those years ago... World at War is a good game but even I am desperate for them now to give up on WW2 based games as it is just re-hashing the same old stuff, it all feels the same to me now and although I was initially opposed to the modern warfare break away I know feel it is a breath of fresh air.

There have been a couple of Vietnam war based games, cant think of the titles but I remember them being very difficult to play, mainly due to the fact it was just a mesh of jungle with almost no visibility, of course it could be done better however I dont see it as a particulary fun setting for a war game mainly due to the nature of the guerilla warfare of the Viet Cong.

Maybe move along the lines of a falklands/ cold war era WW3???

The only thing I think can really be done with a WW2 game now to make it interesting again is to actually allow you to play the campaign as Germany... Allowing you to actually invade area's etc

Playing as Germany would be great, and I agree with the Vietnam comment. It wasn't really a war that is able to be made into an enjoyable video game. I think the original Vietcong was okay, the second was abysmal and the Battlefield:Vietnam was completely overshadowed by BF2.

I'd have thought that a Falklands game would be too quickly over. Perhaps something along the lines of a modern day fictional scenario?

Thats what I was getting at, remember during the coldwar everyone was stock piling weaponry at an alarming rate for the WW3 that never happened. In my opinion the Falklands conflict was the last point at which the royal navy, british army and royal air farce where at a good operational strenght and that time period would be ideal for a game! a Vulcan nuclear bomber flying over head to drop its payload on an east german soviet stronghold would make a great cut scene! lol

Just picked this up today... Is veteran really that hard?
I did MW1 in 1 day on vet and picked up all achievements Inc mile high in that time too.
Should I just start on vet?

WAW on vet would make even the pope rage quit in a hurricane of swears.

It really does. Especially Blowtorch and Corkscrew. Downfall, the last mission isn't that bad, but the end is very, very frustrating. You spend about ten minutes poking your head up with a sniper and killing the buggers on the MG42/Panzerschreck's.

Blowtorch was definitely the hardest and most frustrating mission for me. I definitely found the missions where you fight the Japanese to be harder than the ones where you fight Ze Germans.

Cant remember what level it was....maybe the 3rd where you're coming out of a burnt wood into trenches literally broke me and I had to call it a day. Knowing that the enemy just constantly re-spawn kills it for me.

I've done the level quoted above.. It was level 5, Their Blood.

I'm not gonna lie... I was stressing out and swearing lol.
Seems the secret to doing this game is similar to mw1.. Covering fire and move. The quicker you move and cover the easier it is.

Only 50% through on Vet ATM and it is quite easily the hardest game I've played..

Smoke and run for checkpoints is the best way on vet on some of the levels.

Thats the way I've done it..

It took me 4 Hours (!!!!) to get past blowtorch and corkscrew.. the second section with the bunker was insane!

2 Levels left and a few achievements.. then this and ODST are getting traded lol.
Perhaps Bayonetta too....

Keep it up :D

I'm going through this game again on the 360, but not burning through it like I did on the PS3. Not sure what it is yet, but it feels a hell of a lot easier on the 360. Still infuriating though.

Loads of people class Mile High as the hardest achievement to get on the 360 (source = YouTube lol) but IMO getting Veteran on Corkscrew absolutely destroys it!

Gonna get the last few levels done 2night if I can...

I found the end section Heart of Reich on the PS3 much harder than Blowtorch and Corkscrew. Took me about 7 hours to clear that level. Soon as you charge for the Flack88's you're assaulted with a barrage of 'nades and MP40 spamming. Soon as you get to the buildings, you get hit from all directions.

That level was so hard they may as well have had a giant 200 ft high "spider hitler" that spews 1000's of nades at your feet, while you try and shoot one of his tiny eyes with a bolt action as he's on the move with his crazy fast spider legs!

*cries tears..........runs off*
