Ive been a die hard fan of the series since being blown away by the demo of the original call of duty on the PC all those years ago... World at War is a good game but even I am desperate for them now to give up on WW2 based games as it is just re-hashing the same old stuff, it all feels the same to me now and although I was initially opposed to the modern warfare break away I know feel it is a breath of fresh air.
There have been a couple of Vietnam war based games, cant think of the titles but I remember them being very difficult to play, mainly due to the fact it was just a mesh of jungle with almost no visibility, of course it could be done better however I dont see it as a particulary fun setting for a war game mainly due to the nature of the guerilla warfare of the Viet Cong.
Maybe move along the lines of a falklands/ cold war era WW3???
The only thing I think can really be done with a WW2 game now to make it interesting again is to actually allow you to play the campaign as Germany... Allowing you to actually invade area's etc
