How have your road surfaces fared with the freeze?

Assuming you can see your roads yet :p how have the surfaces fared with all the freezing? Round here they are a mess. Full of pot holes and cracks now. It's going to cost the council a lot to fix it all again.

Ditto. It's a case of "dodge the pot hole" rather than driving normally. :/

Nottingham's roads are dead. Trying to avoid going out if I can, it's absolutely horrendous. There's one hole near me that's 6" deep, a good foot long and goes right across one side of the road - and that's on a main road near a huge retail park. I've sent god knows how many forms in about all the really serious ones I've seen but it won't do any good. They'll be poorly patched up then come back worse next year :(

lol you fail at guessing measurements

6 inches deep. You'd never get out of a hole that deep :p

Dreadful. Almost completely ruined in places. Gone through the tarmac to the gravel when has then worn out larger chunks of the road.

When it defrosted a couple of days ago they filled in the worst potholes - with a shovel full or 2 of tarmac. It then snowed and froze again and the repairs fell apart. They're now worse than before.

So glad I can't get the car out of the drive. :D

I don;t know if they have actually got much much worse or its just the general debris on the road but I feel a few bigguns have been created in the past week which I havent noticed before, doesnt help the road I have to go down has been subsiding for the past 20 years and I have to slow down to 5mph to go through one of the dips :(

the worst are slowly being filled up, but there were a few on the motorway i hit at 80+ which wasn't particularly pleasant

Put it this way - I'm extremely glad that I'm not a motorcyclist. The road around here are runied in places. The council left them in a terrible state for about 2 years, repaired them in the summer, and now they've had it again.

And that's part of the problem, they just get filled up rather than being properly repaired
i meant repaired :p

they did just fill them up at first, which is fantastic as you get a windscreen full of gravel. motorway sliproads were the worst for this

Took the bike out for a quick spin today for 20-30 mins as I rode it in a few weeks or so.

The amount of pot holes is horrendous around my area, hit one coming out of a corner (couldn't avoid it) which was deep enough to bottom out my front suspension and almost sent me over the bars.

Will be keeping a eye out for it from now on, that's for sure!

Quite bad around here, my car's got silly low profile tyres and although I only drove for a few weeks before it snowed (passed in december) there are definitely a few on my commute that have appeared or worsened. There's a big crack across the road right near me. Grr.

They are pretty much the same as they were before.

Yep, noticed the odd pot hole here and there nothing new tbh.

I can't thank the council enough round here, they completely plowed my road today its now driveable again, this isn't exactly a tall order but when I was informed of the man power that went into doing it today by a neighbour (i got home at 9 and he was still clearing his drive) I was quite impressed they cleared all the back rounds round here completely. It's a small road in the sticks so it was still as bad as ever and a nightmare on the mornings dreading getting stuck in quick sand like conditions.

My only gripe was all the snow piled up the side of the roads and my driveway was completely blocked in, didn't bother me thoguh I just parked the car at the bottom near the turn around spot and shoveled it all out of the way.

I can finally reverse back onto my drive :D

this is what happens when there is a lot of snow to clear.
had the same when i lived in norway, except my driveway was on a slope so it all tumbled down

Yup yup understand it has to go somewhere :p and just very glad to have a somewhat clear road now though the paths are completely unusuable due to 3ft mounds of snow :D

Plenty of potholes around Ipswich and especially in the country lanes surrounding. It is making me think twice about getting back on the bike so quickly once the weather warms up and the salt gets washed off the roads.
