BF:BC2 gaming nite

There seems to be some confusion here. I read the statement on play as "you get the beta 2 days early"

Some of you guys are making it sound like you only get beta access from play, which isn't the case as far as I understand. Play are just offering the beta two days earlier.

It is an open beta.

play: Pre-Order from Play.com and receive a code to access the PC BETA before anyone else! The BETA is due to start on the 28th January 2010 (subject to change).Codes and instructions on how to access the BETA early will be emailed two days prior (currently 26th January) to the start of the BETA. Please note, pre-orders already taken will automatically receive a code.

Doesn't appear you get the free unlocks that you get with the limited edition version from game.

You think your little server company is going to get EA ranked status over/along side multiplay, killercreation, rackage, alpha-networks? They have all held ranked status for BF2/BF2142. I'm not being nasty, and I hope you do get the ranked files but I can't see it myself. Unless your box is hosted at one of those companies, I'm sure you said it was another company. Didn't they have to give you discount to get a bf2 server from multiplay because they didn't have ranked status? What is going to change?

Trust me it is far from "little" Our box owner is getting an EA ranked licence for all battlefield titles, in order for him to get a ranked licence he must host 10 servers. They will be activated on beta release and he will get the licence the same day, i am inconstant communication with owner and he assures me they will be ranked and online, he gave us £20 off so we could get a BF2 ranked server.

If we dont get ranked servers, we will all chip in to get a ranked server from multiplayer. either way we will hope to have a server up on the day of release or just after. Myself and another member chipped in for the BF2 server and if we did that for an old game, i'm sure we'll do the same for a new game!

Open beta doesn't always mean your gaurenteed to get into beta, each company will have a certain amount of keys..... and right now the only place that has said you can get beta is play. Me personally i'd rather be on the safe side.

The play.com beta may be only 2 days extra, but play.com is still pretty much one of the cheapest places to get it from with a beta key. Game is the only other one and I don't know if that gets you the beta keys from some of the quotes i've seen.

I don't care about the unlocks, i'd prefer to get the cheapest copy i can from a reputable place. Play fitted that criteria for me. :)

hhmm just seems odd then if that is the case. Why haven't ukgame, xone-gaming, e-frag etc etc got licences then?

I'm just saying be cautious before you ***** loads of money on his server. Seems he is leading you along tbh.

I never had a problem getting a beta key for 2142. It's an open beta, there will be loads of keys!

Game is also cheaper :p

Listen now, regardless of wether he is leading us on or not is irrelivant in relation to our BC2 server. Its simple if he doesn't get the licence that weekend we will rent one off multiplay, if he doesn't get the licence by time of renewal we simply wont renew. Either way the price we have the box for is very good, we have css servers, l4d2 servers and a COD server if we want it. those alone would cost twice as much individually rented.

We have a dedicated box which means we create the servers our self, not done by the dedi owner. It is impossible for us to "***** loads of money on his server" when we already pay a low price and get it cheaper than when we paid for individual servers.

So play seems to get it 2 days earlier, or might it be we get the keys mailed 2 days in advance but still have to wait for the beta on the 28th? :confused:
 
At the end of the day no matter how you look at it, its a bit of joke how only one retailer says you get beta access and nobody else does!

Prehaps they bought the rights to advertise beta or sumin i duno, but the "open" bit of beta to me always ment any1 could get it!

yeh probably. Seems the word "demo" gets replaced with "beta" nowadays. I suppose that if the game is bug riden ala 2142 beta, they can just say its not final version.

Am I to bitter and twisted now?
 
true, but they totally nerfed 2142 after their closed beta phases, hope they dont do that now as theyve got less time from the end till release :D
 
I remember in the 2142 beta the medic packs used to explode open, there was literally a bang sound, had most of us looking round\diving for cover thinking a grenade had gone off. :eek:

can bet the full release arrives late tho as my last 3 preorders from play took 2-3 days after release 2 arrive.... MW2 on 360 (for my son I hasten to add as I still refuse to buy it lol) and fifa10 on the 360 and op flashpoint DR on pc
