Poll: Now!!! Be honest can you tell the difference? 120hz vs 60hz

Can you really tell a difference between 60Hz and 120Hz?

While that video is nice for showing ghosting and clearity of the screen, it's pointless to watch it for the fps difference. I'm not sure, but that video was probably recorded at 60 or so fps MAX, and YouTube probably (again not sure) only allows 60 fps anyway so it is impossible to see the screens fps performance here. On top of that when slow motion is on the frame rate of the camera is halved and so again we can't see any fps difference D:

So basically, people with these moniters, can you tell a difference? I'm still on the bench about the acer one in feb, but will prob get it tbh.

I've owned the samsung 226bw + cw + got a couple of the 26" monitors they do too (forget the model number) and can honestly say hand on heart 100% that its like night and day for me playing games at 60hz compared to 120hz on the 2233rz.....especially in fast paced fps like the ut series.

However i do know 1 person (from about 10) that have had problems with 120hz....and hes owned both the samsung + the viewsonic.

Yeah I'm hesistant to buy as I own an ATI card (4890). But tbh if it doesn't work well (i've read all I got to do is bump up the 2D clock) I'll just play at 60hz till they have a driver fix. Glad there's a difference though :) I just wish acer would hurry up now, delayed till feb D:

ive personally tested the Samsung 2233RZ and can confirm 120Hz does help. Obviously if you want to increase your frame rate from your games above 60fps then it has a clear advantage there, being able to accept a 120Hz input. It's also needed if you want to do any 3D gaming of course

There are also some improvements in even day to day (60fps content included) application, as the 120Hz produces visibly smoother movement and also helps reduce the RTC artefacts and trailing resulting as part of the general pixel responsiveness.

I have been wanting to buy a 120hz screen for ages, they are much better, tried the nvidia 3d thing as well, that was a good bonus if it picks up.

next thing to choose for me is to deside between the 22inch 16:10 or the 24inch 16:9

i allready own a 24inch 1080p monitor and was just wondering if games would run smoother on the lower res 22inch version , my old fps games like UT seem to work better at lower res on my 24inch mm..

and also i dont want to upgrade anytime soon so mabe a res drop in monitor is a good thing?

Theres no issue with AMD cards, just that the aggressive powerplay modes drop the core clocks a little too far for 120hz to run smoothly, as you can change the 2d clocks to whatever you want, its barely an issue, should have been fixed by drivers, and hopefully they will fix soon/eventually, theres more pressing things though like issues that can't be fixed by the end user, which this one can be. I'm quite happy things we can't fix ourselves get priority than those we can.

As for the vid, the freezeframe is the only thing worth seeing, which, clearly shows less ghosting effect due to improved response a 120hz screen will give you. THe rest is pointless, because even if he was using a camera with a higher resolution and 120fps, the rest of us are watching it on 60hz screens anyway. Most likely the vid is something silly like standard 24 fps anyway, not sure how on earth you're meant to see the difference while they are moving but there you go.

Considering on a stupid video I can see an improvement in ghosting, thats good enough for me, I'd happily get one when theres a decent 120hz screen around, I've also been tempted to drop from a 24" screen to a 22" 120hz for gaming but I don't particularly like either screen, though I'm getting closer and closer to getting one anyway.

Might buy the cheapest 120hz I can find for gaming for a while, then when theres some decent Oled 120hz screens out in a couple years by a very expensive uber nice screen.

ye thats what i was thinking , the 225 price point the samsung was at the other week was tempting ;p

No difference from what i can see besides the one on the right looking a bit off due to the glare on the screen.

Thankyou, and I agree. There does seem to be a difference. Allbeit, a slight one. But I do agree with what someone said about the youtube footage.
