VXR Has gone. Did the deal today

You swapping your depreciating vauxhall for a depricated Volvo? Ive missed something surely?

Vectra has needed 1 x new Gearbox (F.O.C. under warranty would have been £1200) 1 x new clutch at £550, 6 19" tyres at £130 each ( £780), 18 months tax @ £415 a year (£635), 1 X main dealer service @ £160, Headlight Washers replaced @ £77, and its popped intercooler hoses twice, first of which was fixed F.O.C. under warranty, when it did it a second time out of warranty, vauxhall wanted £210 (2 hours labour at £70/h and £70 diagnostic charge)

Also had new front pads at £130 which i fitted myself. And before the summer was going to be due: another years tax at £415, rear pads @ £100 fitted (piston windback tool is £40 so makes sense to get dealer to do it as the pads are £60 part only) , 4th service @ £270 + vat

All without any real savings as im crap at budgeting. Trading it in for a cheaper car puts money in the bank, clears us of all the big bills that were due shortly, and gives me a better chance to budget and save for them.

I wonder if you can resist a remap on the S60. The results are pretty tempting - 325bhp/480nm.

Definately. Going through a clutch so early has put me off remaps. Not without an upgraded clutch so you can enjoy the extra power without worrying about burning the clutch out early. As that will be permanently on my mind with any car i get now.

are you serious?! your vectra didn't have these?
i didn't even know cars were still being produced without struts!
i presume there's a stick to hold up the bootlid too? :p

Plenty of modern cars don't have gas struts, majority of Japanese cars (including NSX, Evo, Impreza, GT-R and the £350,000 Lexus LFA), TVR, some Fords like the Focus RS, Mustang GT etc.

Enjoy the new car MrLOL, the kids should love the DVD player.

You are surprised that a local independent charges £100 less for a cambelt change than a Volvo main dealer... a guy whose most basic car is £15,000, and is selling vehicles with price tags towards £50,000... seriously? :p

Yeah ok, maybe a bad example but get my point. Much better to get them serviced elsewhere than a main dealer.

something they didn't do with the insignia VXR, which is why it retails for over 30 grand.

Friend has been looking at one of these, although the retail is 30k, all of the things he wants are extra. The bills coming to something like 32-33k.

weird. why is that? it can't be to save weight as it's a tiny amount.
or is it because the owners of such cars would never venture under the bonnet?

Cheers :) I'll pass it over and see whether he is interested. I think the re-build on his new shape IS2000 has forced him to start looking at other options.

Considering the size and scope of the Japanese modding scene, no. Price I guess.

Atleast you won't have to deal with the VXR Forums anymore. Clearly the most overlooked benefit of this change.
