why is the 4870 1gb vapour x more exspensive than the 5770 1 gb vapour x

and if you wasn't concerned about DX 11 which would be the better to go for?

I would probably say the 4870, but it is quite literally so marginal it probably isn't worth it. Look into getting a 4890 perhaps, is it absolutely necessary to get a vapor-x graphics card or just worried about temperatures in your rig?

4870 has 2GB ram as opposed to 1GB for the 5770.
Pricing for the 4870's seems rather across the board tbh.

Personally I'd get the 5770, newer tech, faster clock speed and faster ram speed.

No brainer. And I've got 2x 4870's :p

no the 2 gb 4870 is 150 quid
there not much in them in real in game terms a few fps
4870 has more memory bandwidth tho 115gb/s compared to the 5770 74gb/s
surely this would play a part somewhere down the line.

case temps are awsome for me cpu never above 49 turned my 2600xt into a passive card with stock cooler sits at 40 degrees with MX2

i can't cope with this thing tho missing my games.
i can order a 5770 or 4870 2morrow i just need a something to get me by until 5870's are more available and cheaper

P:S my old 4870 was a 512mb and i was very impressed with that until the fan bearing went

4870 2gb is a worthless expense, you won't notice ANY difference over a 1gb one except the cost. If you can spend £150, wait 2 weeks and grab 5830 when they are available, the only problem might be the price gouging going on, a 5850 SHOULD be £200 which will mean a 5830 will likely be £150-160, in which case it will destroy, by a pretty large margin, a 4890/5770/4870 aswell as giving you the newer features.

If you want to save money a good deal on a 4890 at £120-125 would be a good price, or a sub £100 4870 on a deal somewhere hopefully, I'd not rush into it and check daily/weekly deals several places and see if you don't spot some uber deal on something for a couple weeks till the 5830 launches. If you see a deal to good to pass up on something available now, go for it, if not you see a 5830 on launch and maybe grab one if in your price range.
