I got season 1 for Christmas and watched through it in a couple of days, then bought season 2 and did the same. I really like the pace and format of the first two seasons, even if they do tend to end every episode on a cliffhanger.

I picked up season 3 a few days ago and so far haven't managed to finish the first disc because I'm so bored. I think it's fairly obvious that the others are playing mind games on Jack, Kate and Sawyer and the last "reveal" I saw was Ben watching Kate and Sawyer on security monitors - that felt like an insult to my intelligence :(.

Can anyone tell me if season 3 gets any better beyond this introduction to the others? I want to finish watching the series but I'm struggling to find the will to get through this part.

Season 3 was unfortunately the point where they thought they might end up doing tons of series, and thus gets pretty full of filler in places. Bear with it though, because seasons 4 and 5 are miles better. :)

Some brilliant episodes towards the end and from then on it never lets up!

Wasn't season3 also the series where JJ Abrams relinquished control to work on other projects? Hence quality drop.

It's fair to say S3 is probably the weakest, but at least you can power watch them and get onto S4 and S5 (which just showing on Sky2 now) rather than the rest of us that had to 'endure' Season 3

Nope that was at the end of season one but I think his only real involvement was with the first episode.

Personally I don't think there is a quality drop at all.

It's definitely the weakest season with a lot of filler, but there's so good episodes and it picks up towards the end. Season 4 starts a little slow also, but once it gets going it doesn't stop and Season 5 was the best yet.

Season Three was where they lost the plot a little and were clearly working on a variety of ideas. Picks up again though afterwards so stick with it!

Was seaon three also the year with the writer strike?

I think you're right, so I'm sure that didn't help. The two main writers have basically come and said the reason it slipped thought, was because the network made them stretch out the story and they wasn't sure when it was going to end. Once they forced the network to agree to end it after Season 6, the show definitely improved and now the end is in sight. :(

For me Season 2 was the real struggle, after the first it was just so boring and slow paced, seasons 3 and 4 were when I got completely drawn back into it.

Yah stick with 3. It's the slowest of the series but there's stuff in there you wont want to miss.

I cant wait for season 6. Not cause im excited, i just want the damn answers.

The damn answers best be damn well worth it.

Agreed!

Season 3 and the start of season 4 was floppy and limp, however the last season built to a pretty impressive climax and the links back to the previous seasons have started to provide the structure for some answers (about time). However the last season is going to have to be swift and brutal in delivering answers, if it does at all. Knowing the way JJ writes, I would expect an awful lot to be left to the viewer's imagination.

JJ Abrams has nothing to do with the show these days though, he basically got the show on TV and wrote/directed the first episodes of the first season. After that, he basically left and Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have been running the show ever since. JJ just gets a producer credit and picks up the pay check these days, he doesn't have any involvement in the show or what happens.

Season 2 was the best and Season 3 was decent. Haven't watched any of the new episodes, thought they were total rubbish. Coming from a long time Lost fan from day one, it was a serious disappointment that I wasted my time with the series.
