What the hell are these NiQuitin lozenges doing to my face?

They looked like such a good idea, a pre-quit lozenge to help you cut down in preparation for solid quitting. The first one I took was fine for a few seconds, then started tasting foul. All of a sudden my mouth started tingling, the back of my throat felt swollen and my nose started running. No problems breathing or swallowing, but for about 20 mins afterward it felt like my throat was about half the size it should be.

So I decide to swallow the next one to skip all that - I don't know if it's just the in-built punishment system, but it feels stuck in my oesophagus, about level with my heart, where it's spewing out nicotine and pushing against my lungs.

There's only so much hairy sack of magic I can take. Unless anyone can suggest a better method of quitting, I'll take the heart disease and lung cancer to go.

The weakest ones I could find - 1.5mg. No known allergies, and like I say there's no actual swelling or respiratory distress, just a hideous feeling.

Thats what too much nicotine feels like.

I was also going to say the same. That is the nicotine.

Just man up and go cold turkey like me! :p

4 days and counting. Tested myself massively last night by deliberately getting really ****ed. At home. By myself. Just a test mind.

I won! :D

Quit like a man! :p

I seem to recall reading somewhere that beyond 3 or 4 days any physical addiction to the nicotine will likely have passed and anything else is mental/habit, in which case tablets/patches and so on are a waste of time IMO, all they'll do is prolong your physical addiction longer than needed.

I'm not entirely convinced how much effect a book can really have but when my parents read Allen Carr's book, they stopped smoking pretty much instantly and haven't touched them for years. They'd been smoking for a good 30 years or so til then.

Get your GP to prescribe Zyban, then take 4-7 day holiday in remote location - tour around Scotland or drive to Italy and back, just to keep you occupied and without stress. Don't drink, don't do weed. Or you will smoke out of habit. Drink loads of liquid.

Cigarettes seem Much safer to me after reading this thread, Thanks Mate. :)

you are supposed to pop it under your tongue or at the side of your mouth to dissolve slowly - you DON'T chew it/suck it/swallow it!!!
didn't you read the instructions??

yes i belive that what it siad to do, I m a non smoker myself for reasons

thier are other ways too, if going by the old way, keep active that way less time to think about lighting up a ciggy or thats what they say anyway
