Just had a shoot this afternoon with Emma. Felt it went really really well. Emma hasn't done any modelling before but she made it really easy for me. She's obviously been practicing posing in a mirror :)

These are my picks from the bunch anyway. Some have had a touch of skin smoothing, some have just had the levels and exposure altered.

First one I love the composition but the lighting was all wrong so im not too sure. ISO 500 aswell. Thought i'd stick it up anyway for the lulz.

#1 NO JUDGES TO COMMENT ON THIS ONE PLEASE AS I'LL USE IT IN THE COMP :D

Last one is easily my favourite. Slightly different angle with some nice blur and some skin detail. :)

Thanks for looking.

#1 & #6 are my favourite #1 for the composition and #6 for the lighting.

She does seem quite natural in some but in others abit uncomfortable, pretty good for a first time though i'd say.

You can tell people who are new to photography and the ones who have been doing it since film.
All these complaints about ISO's! :P

ASA400 was considered a standard film speed for shots outdoors so for indoor shots you'd be looking at 800/1600 for portraits in ambient lighting conditions :)

Love the grain my friend!! :D
I love using higher ISO's as the grain adds a certian air to the image.

I like number one mate. Its a nice relaxed fun capture. Great facial expression. Overall quite flat on contrast but it works with the scene/clothing.

Dont take to any other ones I am sorry to say because I felt the expression is (bored, stiff + non instructed)

Obviously new to portraits?
Good start mate. Don't let your butteflies in your gut stop you from doing more. Have fun with it mate.

:)

yeah really like the last one, for the same reasons as you.

YOU did'nt wax her eyebrows before the shoot did ya lol

I started a high ISO thread so I do have some interest in using it more often. For a studio though it's better to be on ISO 100. We are doing another shoot outdoors so i'll do some experimenting with higher ISO and possibly black and white :)

Thats my point exactly though. You're not in a studio. You're using ambient light. lol (first image)

Yeah high ISO and black n white work is gorgeous.

I see radiator bokeh!

I'm awaiting the day that a client has a very large bedroom with full poster steel bed. I went for this shot because i've seen it done before and love the pose. Ok some of the pictures i've seen have people with their wabs out but still. I really want to get this type of shot right. As I said, this one was for the lulz. And it is actually growing on me :D :p

My max ISO is 320 and I love grainly work. I leave the grain to the poxy 4MP instead :D

#1 is my fave. The studio looking shots seem a little overprocessed for my liking. A little too soft and saturated. The tones in the first picture really flatter her though, I'd be really chuffed with that :)

Phate you idea stealing motherfffffff.... Even though you took your picture and entered it DAYS before mine :D

I'm still gonna enter my last image here though :p (And take your 3 techniques)

Ok I posted the new entry in the competition and realised it's a total rip of Phate's entry so i've pulled it.

Entered #1 instead :)
