The 5970 'waiting' thread

Post here if you've ordered a 5970.

Like which brand have you ordered, when did you place your order, what are the system specs of the pc you're going to install it in, whether you had to make other upgrades etc etc...
Let's kill some time and keep our sanity for the anticipation!

Well, I ordered the Sapphire version. Placed my order on the 9th of January - it was Saturday late afternoon so I guess OcUK got my order on Monday 11th.

The system specs of the computer I'm installing it in include an E8400 at 4Ghz. I also ordered a Corsair HX850 since I'm more than sure that my LC Power 550W would be barely sufficient.

I also intend to mod my case a bit so that the 5970 fits. It might fit as it is, but I think it'd be better if I remove my hard disk cage and cut off part of it. I don't intend on every having more than 2 hard disks after all.

What about you guys?

Rather than ordering now, I am waiting to see what comes in. Am building a PC for a relative. Will order as soon as any brand 5970 comes in as we want to build asap. System specs are:

Ordered mine 4th december, originally ordered Powercolor HD5970, but changed it to XFX HD5970 Black Edition in 21st december. So thats over 1 month of waiting!

well I got my XFX HD5970 Black edition, it's amazing!!! best gfx card i've ever had! and no problems so far, overclocked it to 5870 speeds and rock solid!!

When I contacted OcUK they told me that I shouldn't be waiting more than 2 weeks.
I'll count that from the 11th Jan since I placed by order Saturday evening.

Oh and they also told me the Sapphire model is the first batch arriving!

I would be getting it a tad later than you UK residents because I'm in Malta.

I ordered an Asus 5970 on the 17th of December '09, It cost £502 inc shipping and goes with the spec in my sig.

The last ETA said it would be here on Monday but I find that very hard to believe tbh.

I'm in contact with the company and they told me Asus had quoted them January 18th. No one really knows for sure imo though which is why no sites display an ETA next to their products.

I ordered mine on the 4th dec, got it sometime last week it's a hefty card so clamp it down nice and tight, also stay away from the beta drivers it really doesn't like them.

The stock situation or lack of I think is very very poor. These cards have been out a fair while now and are as rare as rocking horse poo.

At least there there is some 58xx stock.

The 5970's on the other hand, I'm starting to think one reason why they're so expensive is because they're so rare to find!
