OcUK Photo Comp - Season Nine : Round One - "Three Techniques" DISCUSSION

Temporary entry in. Can there be some clarification on what merits long exposure though :)

I like, one question though. Is the watch working? I may have had too many 'bows tonight but with a long exposure I thought I'd see a trail on the second hand?

Rojin!
That's an excellent shot. I love the grain + B&W. Makes me want to have a kiddo, just so I can shoot him/her :)

Ta :) Best thing I ever did was buy a DSLR, Oops! No! I mean have a little 'un! ;) Seriously though, I left it late in life to start a family and whilst I would not change a thing about my life, it is the most fullfilling thing I have ever done, and of course as you have correctly identified the photo opportunities are boundless!!! Although a 1yr old has the most extreme stealth capabilites known to man when it comes to photograhpy....!

I've got to say though, your shot is going to take some beating this round :)

Yes the watch is working but the second hand on the main dial doesn't go round. it only works when I've got the timer on. Strangely enough though, its the bottom dial on the 3 smaller dials that goes round for the seconds yet that one isn't shown as having a trail either

Guys, thinking of changing my entry to this

Thoughts?

Mines in, i am making an effort to take my camera out where ever i go, today i walked my dog along the canal, and caught this swan.

I quite like it, wish it was a little sharper (need better glass), your thoughts peeps?

This month's competition have so many girls!
(Be it baby, 18 year old or a model with an animal on her head!)

Girls make the world go round! :)

I see your point though!

I'm going to try and get something else that's a bit different.

Still waiting on Steve O B - he normally conjures up something random (and usually good)

I don't really know what to do for this one to be honest.

I've got stuff I can enter, but I kind of feel I would like to do something really playing to the theme, rather than just a nice photo which has 3 random techniques in it. I expect it will just be that in the end though.

To be honest I'm still waiting on Steve, Mr Squirrel, Famas and Martin producing the goods.

Thanks buddy! Although if I am honest, I am really stumped with the theme too. I do apologise as I thought it would be really straightforward but actually its a toughie to kick of the year. I think the idea of it is perhaps better than the execution. I actually think it would have been better to explicitly set say 5 traditional techniques and force people to use two of them. That would have been better I think. Anyway, no point crying about it now.

Good luck everyone. :)

Heh - don't hold your breaths guys - I'm seriously considering not entering this year and concentrating more on specific photographic projects. I have stacks of ideas but twisting them around to make them fit into monthly restrictions doesn't hold the same attraction it used to. I dunno - we'll have to see - maybe it's just the lack of sunshine that's getting me down :D
