I've been playing L4D for a few hours tonight and it has a score box at the top. After finishing I've notice the box has been faintly burnt onto my screen, an LCD Dell 2405.
Will this go away or am I screwed, anything to excercise the colours to help get rid?

Danny I feel your pain, its crap when games break your hardware. For example, Fifa 10 broke my only controller today. It smashed it on the table and shattered the battery pack int a million pieces![]()

and you can just select repeat and leave the video playing fullscreen with brightness and contrast selected at 90% for 6+ hours then turn them down and its fixed
it's not burn its retention afaik
doesnt happen on PC monitors but LCD HDTVs ohh yes it happens.

Yeah, you can burn LCD's although it takes hell of a lot longer when displaying a static image than a plasma. You sure its not retention rather than a burn ?
By the way, burning a white screen will shorten the life of your monitor / tv. 'Whitewashing' as its called when done on a TV can, if done for long enough sort it out, but will shorten the life of your hardware.

Ive heard that a typical old "snowy" untuned signal from a analogue tuner device might help if left on for a while.
Worth a try...

I had noticed you hammering L4D2 yesterday!
Or switch to my tv.
