How often do you wash your jeans?

I usually get them washed once they get dirty, had my new G-Star jeans washed for the first time and they shrunk so much they were crushing my nuts :(

I've found jeans don't like being washed as they shrink and loose colour too easily

I currently wash my jeans every few days, but that's only because I alternate between a couple of pairs; one pair's in the wash while I'm wearing the other (I use it as an excuse to wash them). Because they never smell when I put them in the wash, I can't imagine I'd wash them any more regularly than every two weeks if I had just the one pair.

I wash them when they look dirty or I'm worried they'll start to smell.

Jeans aren't meant to be washed after one or two wears, they're workwear. If you wash them more often they'll wear worse, they stay tough and look nice for longer with less washing.

As for the smelling thing - I won't wear a pair of jeans more than two days running ever, rotate them. I've got a fair few pairs of jeans so they probably get worn twice a week tops each. Leave them in a pile after you wear them for a day then hang them up, they're fine. My balls and my arsecrack don't come in to direct contact with my jeans so it's not like they're going to smell like ballbags after a few wears.

Mine don't get washed too often, changes the shape and the colour. I really hate it when my jeans become a lighter colour from being washed :(

Same, got a cheap pair for work but raw denim = minimal washing and just airing them out.

Good jeans, selvedge for example are meant to be worn day in day out for about 3-6 months before having a wash.

If you have a decent pair of jeans they shouldn't be washed (with normal wear - as in not getting visibly dirty) more regularly than once a month. It will weaken and damage the material.

I haven't washed one of mine that I wear 3/4 times a week for over a month and it doesn't smell or anything like that.

EXACTLY.

I don't think I've washed mine in a month, they don't smell at ALL (compared to say trousers) and I wear them almost daily.

You're buying the wrong jeans then.

How so? The MOST expensive jeans are the worst for losing their colour. Raw denim should be washed absolutely as little as possible.

Denim loses colour when you wash it, that's just how it is. The knees on your jeans will wear through way quicker than the knees on mine if you wash yours way more often.

Denim doesn't like to be washed. You should wash your jeans, but only when they need it, otherwise you'll just knacker them out.

Precisely. I used to find that they'd just go thin, then realised it was the washing machine causing it. Hate the feeling of crisp jeans too. Mine are uber-soft.

i wash mine everytime i do my civvy cloths wash, usually once every 2 weeks, but then i dont wear the same jeans all the time, and when i do i dont spend a lot of time in them, they probably get worn 3-4 times during that period and thats only in the evenings/weekend.
same goes for jumpers/hoodies, t-shirts get worn 1-2 times max.
