Lightweights ??

People in Scotland drank 25% more alcohol per head of population than individuals in England and Wales, the figures suggested

It doesn't seem very high to me. I'm pretty sure I drink more units of alcohol than that with beer.

I'm guessing if alcohol were banned, the birthrate would plummet. The ginger gene would be bred out of the world population within a generation.

This is why alcohol should never be banned. The gingers are an endangered species and should not be allowed to perish! Please! We need alcohol! There's no other way for us gingers to get laid!

As an average I find that figure incredibly high.
Are there similar published accuarte figures for England Wales and Northern Ireland. I'd love to see the comparisons.

You may have a point. Plus if they are deprived of their Buckfast chaos will ensue. We'd probably have to put a few thousand to sleep just to relieve their suffering.

Agreed, perhaps a buckfast giveaway could be faked in a large sealed chamber, once you've got a good crowd in there shut the doors and let the gas in.

I drink a bottle of whisky a week, plus whatever parties/ pub/ nights out have on top.

52 bottles of voddy wouldn't be much. 1 a week? Thats only 2 doubles a day, thats just relaxing in front of the telly with a couple of bevvies territory.

I'm a scot and find the OP very offensive...

Anyways, I drink a large amount but have cut back recently. I think the study simply shows that us scot's know how to drink

It's about 10 pints of strong lager per bottle, so a couple of cans in front of the telly 5 days a week is close.
Thats about average for most people I should think, except for teetotallers.
