Few days ago I asked about a possible config for 800 quid and sure enough, I got some advice, there is one thing that's making me wonder - should I go for the phenom bundle now, or would waiting till say late feb/march do me better? Or in other words - is there any hardware coming out in the next few months that may completely change the pricing on current bundles/hardware?

In terms of CPU/Mobo/RAM, I wouldn't think so - AFAIK there is no big new stuff coming from AMD for a little while and it doesn't look like RAM prices are going back down any time soon. Therefore no crushing need to hold off.

However, on the graphics front Nvidia's new cards are coming around then (March/April last rumour I heard). To be honest, i'm not sure it is worth postponing your whole system build for this - the current AMD DX11 cards (5770/5850) are brilliant and not badly priced. Ofcourse this is up to you, right now you can get great DX11 cards, but in a few months you will have more choice and prices will likely be more competitive.

may aswell buy now.

i7 920 gets replaced by the slightly higher clocked i7 930 in feb/march other than that not a whole lot worth waiting for.

Never try and wait for the next big thing to be released as all you will be doing is waiting and never actually buying yourself a system, the only time I would say waiting is reasonable is if a new socket is due to be released.

Apparently more info about Nvidia's new graphics cards will be made public tomorrow. I'd advise holding off at least until then. :p

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. With regards to mobos i was thinking more along the lines of usb 3.0. When is that coming out and who will it be most useful for?
