Guys i have the above and for xmas i got a 22" samsung monitor. Previously i had a 19" and ran at 1400X900. Literally everything i chucked at it ran completely maxed out and smoothly.

However, recently i have been playing COD4 MW2 and its really really struggling on the higher res settings. Its probably around 15fps in places.

Now i was of the impression that my card should be able to handle a game such as COD easily, however since getting a new/bigger monitor i doesnt seemt to cut the mustard.

Can someone clarify if i should be experienceing these problems or whether they suspect a driver conflict issue please?

Ive overclocked the nuts off the card too btw. There has been no Nvidia cards in the machine for years and i recently reinstalled the ATI drivers aswel.

cheers

yeah it can be pretty normal with the bigger screens it happened to me when i got my 22"

try lowering a few settings to see it u can up it a bit you should need anti ailising with a 22" screen

Hmm duno mate, i have the same card and upgraded from a 19" to a 24" and still get 91fps in cod MW2 with high settings atleast 4x AA.

MW2 shouldn't make a 4870 struggle. The 512 is a fair bit weaker at high resolutions than the 1gb so that could be a reason, but you also have an old E6600 which can't be helping your FPS much!

E6600 which is still a beast owing to its overclocking ability is clocked at 3.2MHZ on air. Its totally infalible.

Im worried here, the 4870 is still a powerful card and i dont personally feel that a 22" screen should have had such a detrimental impact be it 512 or not.

Like i said, the E6600 probably isnt bottle necking anything if you are being totally realistic.

Its something else, im sure it is - however fixing these sorts of issues in the past has only ever been properly achieveable with a full XP reinstall which if im frank, i just dont have the patience to do again.

hey sorry forgot about you forgot to subscribe to it i ment no AA the 512 really suffers with any AA at all IMO i could play crysis on mine at med/high specs but could sometimes get choppy have you made sure you haven't enabled AA or AF permanently in catalyst control center everything should be set to use application settings (well thats what i found works best)

crysis for me would run 60-90% gpu load with a temp of about 73 and fan speed of about 45-75%

thats all well and good mate but you also have 6GIGs of ram and I7 chip and a great motherboard.

Im not surprised yours runs so well lol ;)

Ofc that might be the reason. im also using windows 7 maybe that aswell.

When my 2nd 4870 finally arrives il put it in my old system 1st and see what fps that gets, its an athlon x2 dual core @ 3.1Ghz, 2Gb ddr2, some crappy mobo running xp 32bit.

that would be really helpful thanks

Run MW2 at 1080p with 2xaa and adaptive aa as well. Recently installed win7 and found it faster in dx10 compared to when I ran it on xp. Is the 22 monitor 1680x1050?
