Overseas holidays for 2010

Any reason why you want to go back? I've visited, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. We didn't stay in a resort though, so for us, once you've seen all the sites then thats it...

I've been going back for years, we stay in Bugibba on the coast and find the people friendly and welcoming. It reminds me of England but twenty five years ago in respect of their laid back culture.

Greece would be my second choice destination, spanish resorts dont seem to attract me at all - they seem to be very pricey.

So many places to visit in the world and you keep going back and to a resort of all choices. Try something different and go see the world.

With air travel cheaper now than it will ever be in the future I do wonder why people keep going to the same place all the time when the world is full of exciting and fantastic places.

Going back to the same European destination time after time is the sort of thing we should do once flights are very expensive.

Try Greece or Italy!! Spainish resorts know that English people go there and cater for that, you won't get a proper sense of the mediteranean

I've travelled to most of Europe/Turkey over the years and seemed to have settled with Malta.

Never been a keen flyer and get bored with flights over 5hrs in duration. About 4 to 4.5 hours is really the max for me, so 3 hours (from Manchester) is nice and ideal.

Long haul flights arn't that bad. I usually sleep or play on my psp/DS/Laptop or watch movies. Florida is only 9 hours, New York is 6

There is nothing wrong in coming back to somewhere you like in Europe. Especially if you’ve done the travelling thing and don’t want long flights.

Been there, seen it, done it. Stayed in the Malta Hilton, St Julian’s a few times, for a late summer break. I’ve probably driven on most of their roads, won’t be back for a while. :)

Been going there since 2005. Just got back a couple of weeks ago (was there for Xmas / New Year for the first time), going again in March and getting married there in July!

If I had my way I'd move out there.

Last long haul I did was to Costa Rica - that was seriously pushing it at 9 1/2 hours - don't think I could go any further.

Never been to that part of Europe (Greece, Malta, Turkey etc) but always wanted to go. Is Malta mainly a beach style holiday with resorts, or is there much exploring to be done?

None that I know of, but we've got a wedding planner sorting everything for us.
Only small issue is if either of you are divorced, then it's extra paperwork.

Not getting married in a church, getting married on the beach overlooking Paradise Bay.

Still have to visit the registery office in Valletta to sign off all the papers after, but you have to do that even if you get married in a church.

Interestly I found out that the wedding planner was the first person in Malta (she's Maltese, husband is British) to be allowed a double barrelled name, and that was only 12 years ago. It came up as Lu wants to double her name. It's completely unheard of in Malta as the wife is expected to take the husbands surname.

I went quite a few years ago and enjoyed what there was to see. The history alone makes the island a good visit. I'd like to go back one day but there are so many other nice places to visit.

Half made plans to go over in Easter time for an extended weekend. Got some family out there who have had a baby a couple of years ago who I'd like to see.
Will 3 or 4 days do, I don't think I can really spend a week visiting it - too much studying to do around that time!

Been to Malta & loved it, traveled on the old 1930's buses which is brilliant, visited the huge outdoor set from the film ' Popeye' :p
& stood by the huge 10 ton great siege bell at Valletta when it started to toll at 12.o clock but wished we had been further away, lol.

A few strange things are - you never see any cows or animals, there are lots of bird traps all over the island with blokes sitting in a hide waiting to pull a string to trap them for the song bird trade, set to be made illegal now in EU
