Just be aware that this is for INTERNAL use only ie inside your house.

If you're going to run it outside you'll be better off getting external grade Cat5e
 
not any more, almost all computers have Ethernet auto negotiation and so don't need crossover cables anymore.

I was going to add something about the exception, I stand corrected.

Older network cards would have a problem, I know my P.C.I. card doesn't have auto-negotiation for example.

This came in with the specification for 1000Base-T (gigabit). IIRC it's because on 1000Base-T each wire pair is TX and RX simultaneously, so the point of a crossover is moot. However, I believe all gigabit adapters will also autosense when connected to a 100Base-T port.
