Toilets, why is the handle always on the inside of the door?

I know what you mean. I much prefer toilets where the door can be pushed to exit as I agree, I see so many people not washing their hands after going to the toilet, no matter what their ablutions may have been. It is gross how so many people just don't maintain a decent standard of personal hygiene.

I thought of Howard Hughes too. :D

If the handle is a vertical bar, grab with one finger at the very top or bottom - I'd presume that only the hygiene-concious would have touched them here. :)

Even worse when you see it at your work toilet with people who should know better! i.e. doctors.

This is something I have never thought about. Now, having thought about it, I'm probably never going to think about it again.

I'm so glad there are so many people like me lol.

I sometimes take a few sheets of toilet paper out with me just in case there's none there. Just enough to open a couple of doors throughout the night :D

Doors open into most rooms, for the likes of bedrooms and bathrooms, usually so that the door masks the majority of the room from view of people outside of the room when open.. it's a privacy thing (one of the few things I was told when I did work experience at an architects firm; it may or may not be bullpoop)

Grab a paper towel, chuck it in the bin after you leave.

Pee all over your own hands. It's sterile and will help clean whatever surface you subsequently touch.

Sterile things don't clean things, you are thinking of antiseptics / antibacerials that are used to make something sterile.

If you sprayed something in a sterile liquid (ie urine) then it would be just as dirty as before, no more, no less.

I do the same but sometimes I take a bit of toilet paper instead if there are no towels.
After spending time with the Infection Control team and delivering hand washing lessons to kids I've become more obsessed with cleanliness in toilets.
About 2 months ago I was wee'ing next to a Doctor and he went to walk straight out so I challenged him.
He asked for my name and I said I looked forward to hearing from my Manager.

HAHA! Awesome! I take it you never heard anything?

The world is a dirty place. But it's okay because we have immune systems. If it's not the toilet door it'll be the next door, hand rail, counter top, computer keyboard etc. It is impossible to avoid coming into contact with other people's germs. Get over it.

Some toilet doors do push outwards but then you're confronted with another door that opens inwards! Pointless.

For what it's worth, I've been in plenty of toilets with handles you have to touch to get out and I haven't been ill so they can't be all that bad, but I don't then go and suck my fingers generally.

I wasn't actually expecting anyone to do it tbh, regardless of the veracity of the comment.
