ok got my new 5770 about 40 minutes ago turned the comp off did the usual to plug the new card in booted up and black screen wouldn't display anything not even the usual 600x400 display when you insert a new card.

any ideas what it is or is it rma time already

antec 450 watt modular (tried different power connection modular and molex to 6pin)it's plenty like i said it ran my 4870 last week which required twice as much power.

could it be a compatibility problem with my mobo. it won't even let me see bios screen just black and my monitor gives up and says no signal if i plug my ati 2600xt in it works fine and i can see the post

PSU would be fine it wouldn't have ran the 4870 otherwise which required a much higher wattage

anyone local to leicester that could give it a wirl in their rig for me?

If you can get up to Jnc 28 M1 you can try it in my rig

Radeon HD 5770 (single GPU)

The card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 40 Amps available on the +12 volts rails.

There are many good PSUs out there, please do have a look at our many PSU reviews as we have loads of recommended PSUs for you to check out in there. What would happen if your PSU can't cope with the load?:

bad 3D performance
crashing games
spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
freezing during gameplay
PSU overload can cause it to break down

Just rang my cousin who works for a computer shop about 45 minutes away he's gonna try it in his test rig for me to see if it will display.

just my luck dpd delivered spot on package was fine quick service..

can anyone think of anything else that would stop it from working.
my board is pci-e 2.0 the card is 2.1 but that wouldn't make a difference would it
