Radeon HD 5770 (single GPU)

The card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 40 Amps available on the +12 volts rails.

There are many good PSUs out there, please do have a look at our many PSU reviews as we have loads of recommended PSUs for you to check out in there. What would happen if your PSU can't cope with the load?:

bad 3D performance
crashing games
spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
freezing during gameplay
PSU overload can cause it to break down

if it worked with a power hungry 4870 it would work with a 5770

I reckon his psu is fine, its a decent make, the card should not suck that much juice, besides I used to run my 260gtx on a 450w OCZ.

An obvious thing but easily overlooked, have you connected the 2nd half of the power supply plug ?, it's easy to overlook when pushing a six pin connector into an 8 pin hole. PSU plugs are split to accomodate both 6 and 8 pins cards

ok try using the VGA on boot, apparently its an underlying problem, also wait for 30 secs in delay in post screen

what monitor you using?

card powers up fine but will not post it totally stops the comp from posting when it's plugged in i get no beeps and no signal

I could pretty much bet on my left nut that PSU is fine, manufacturers always overcompensate on PSU's, if it were up to them we'd all be using 1500w PSU's in your SLI/Crossfire rigs...

I'll base my conclusions on real-world experience and figures of actual power draw at the mains socket.

You go ahead and buy a 700w PSU to be on the safe side, I won't stop you. You won't be the first to think that 500w is "a bit on the low side".

PSU suppliers are laughing all the way to the bank.
