*****The Official Aliens Vs Predator 3*****

Yeah, I see where you're coming from - it's interactive, and you're supposed to gain enjoyment from playing as an alien, whos whole reason for being is to rip people to shreds, impregnate them with eggs, and generally terrorize them.

In the film, it's terrifying and horrific, because it's always from the victim's point of view.

Too all those gore doubters, why don't you **** off and live in Australia? They censor if not ban all that stuff for soft fragile minds like you... Bunch of slack-jawed fagots around here...

:D

In other news, I'm going to man up and play this game ;)

In all seriousness, if the game is good and the gore/violence works well into it then it will be what the AvP franchise is all about. Alien films have been 18+ as was Predator.

If it's a poor game that shows off stupid gore/violence for no reason I won't be impressed. It needs to be done well, just like in L4D2.

nah you are wrong. most people are not horified by gore at films, they quite enjoy watching it actually.

I didn't come away from Aliens thinking "Wow, I really enjoyed those bloodied corpses in that one scene, those were some great exploded torsos..."

So I'm not sure really how to respond to you :p

And finally, Aliens is over 2 hours long, IIRC. How much screen time did the gore scenes get? In total, probably a few minutes.

The meat of Aliens (and Alien), is not gore, but character interaction, the building of tension, and other scenes. In other words, great film-makers know when to use gore, and how much to use, and don't over-do it.

I didn't come away from Aliens thinking "Wow, I really enjoyed those bloodied corpses in that one scene, those were some great exploded torsos..."

But what is the most iconic scene from the Alien, and the one that likely stood out for most people, and hence was probably the most discussed? And was it discussed with disgust, or with perhaps a little awe and excitement?

Come on, people love the violence in movies as much as games. If they didn't, the Saw films wouldn't exist, rubbish that they were.

I undrestan dthe difference between consuming media (ie films) and interacting (ie games). However I do feel that whilst it may not be to people's taste, I think the aforementioned content is key to playing as though particular species and doing so isn't going to make a normal, balanced person go around doing anything more violent than what they are already doing. And given how realistic graphics are these days I feel that they ahve perhaps opted not to make it too realistic!

I'll bet Aliens made more money than all the Saw and Hannibal films combined (if you include DVD sales and adjust for inflation) :p

Gore isn't interesting, is it. If it was, people would go out and buy box sets of Jimmy's Hospital, and watch themselves some open heart surgery :p

Alien introduced us to a parasitic race of aliens who gestated in a human host, and... well, they had to get out somehow. Humans were nurseries to them; that was the real horror. Oh and they looked truly alien (not Star-Trek bipedal alien), had acid for blood, and were more intelligent than you could expect for something that most resembled a dog.

Would the film have been so well-remembered if it had been about a guy who killed people by exploding their stomachs?

I see the point being made about gore. But in my opionion its deffently not tasteless. People buy these game for entertainment value. Choosing to play as the predator and alien is for fun. I personly want to play the predator to feel like a predator (if that makes sense). The predator film was gory to show how sadistic and tough the predator was. He was (or it was) a bad ass mother ******. Same with the alien. People play these characters to experiance the other side. They want to be the hunter instead of the hunted.

Personally cannot wait for this. Huge fan of the first one and the second one (wont mention primal hunt). Lets hope the multiplayer is up to scratch!

That looks very very similar to the start of AvP2 (I skipped much of it since i didn't want to soil, er, I mean spoil myself). But the way it ends looks identical to the point in AvP2 when things start happening. Cool.

Had a scan through the thread and didn't see this posted, apologies if it has been...

The first 10 minutes of the marine campaign...

YYESSS!!! YESS!!!!!!! YEEEESSS!!!! OH GOOOOOOOOOOD YES!!!

That looks so yeeeeeees!!!! I hope the whole game is that tense and it doesn't end up being an average shooter.

Tension is good but omg the player sucks he spent all that time just walkin back and forth and shooting the glass to get to that room and even once almost went back out the door when he just had to follow the damn path round.
