Bingo!
I'm so chuffed with it~
I had an Olympus 50mm f2, it was a VERY sharp lens but the AF can be abit hit and miss. I've since been hunting around for a brighter but wider prime (the 50mm is 100mm equiv) for my camera, to do indoors. Been camping around 4/3rd forums for months waiting for a bargain. Snapped this up and sold my 20mm pancake f2.8 for this.
I'm loving the ridiculous brightness, bokeh and sharpness from f2.8 onwards. f1.4 is sharp enough for portrait but the DoF is real thin for any eyes that aren't in the same plane to the lens. More experimenting
Any one owns this particular Sigma 30mm f1.4? I find the AF sound to be somewhat crazy, it genuinely sounds like a seal barking, thank god it's not too loud (easily drowned out in ambient noise).
Any chance of a few examples? Still deciding between that and the 35 f1.8.
As long as it wasn't a 5D2, a 24-70L, or a 135L you remain off my ignore list![]()
Cheers. I had to do a quick mess around to test what kind of bokeh am I getting with an f1.4.Cool shots dude! I really like the 1st and 3rd in particular!
Ha, I had the Nikon 35/1.8 and didn't like the nervous bokeh...I nearly went for the Sigma 30/1.4, but in the end 'settled' for the Zeiss 35/2 ZF.2 distagon which came today. Happy lens day![]()

Isn't the Zeiss a full manual lens?
The only thing I have issue with since using it for the past few hours, is the rather 'noisy' AF. It's a BIG issue when I use Live View as it uses contrast detection, thus 'barking like a seal' till it locks. When using phase focus though, it's pretty quick and snaps straight in. So far, no back focusing on my camera body. I might be abit picky since I'm using the 12-60mm SWD (Olympus version of Canon's USM), which is silent and quick.
