Basically I feel with the BMW that I'll be much happier sitting at the wheel for long hours, it will be fine on fuel with the diesel engine. Just worried about massive repair bills? Tyres + brakes will probably also be a bit more, as will commercial insurance....

The Nissan probably. Most of the taxi drivers round here have binned TDCi Mondeos in favour of petrol ones as they are more reliable.

And lol@the bmw

Both the Nissan and Ford diesel engines are known to have reliability problems.

All the ***** mini-cab / taxi drivers seem to drive Octavia diesels.

i think he's more pointing out its completely unsuitable for use as a taxi as it will just bleed you dry.

People dont use expensive bmws and mercs for taxis for a reason.

Not always true mate, goto various part of spain and you see nothing but new Merc and BMW taxis.

I'm starting to see more and more mercs and jags as taxis up here for some reason.

Most are fords,skodas,vauxhalls though.

You need a Toyota or you wont fit in with the taxi eliteists. Lol.

Strangely I was talking to the taxi driver taking me home from the put the other night. We were in a vectra and he didn't like it at all because "it was nowhere near as smooth as the old toyota avensis" he used to have.

Majority of taxis i see around here are Merc E320s :p

As a passenger in a Honda Accord, I was really surprised by how smooth it was. No idea what engine it had, but it was silent and had plenty of effortless power.

There's a Chrysler 300C taxi around here, just for the pimp value. I've also seen a Jag X-type taxi outside the marriot.
