Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

I still can't believe that with only 7 days to go (and indeed nearly 2 weeks after a DICE dev said PC screen shots imminent) this is the only known PC SS, which incidentally looks like a small FOV

With GVD saying that all DICE were no longer going to post in their own forums and use twitter/blogs as the sole form of correspondence and their continued dodging of questions regarding PC FOV, My spider senses are saying its most likely 60, hope I'm wrong but I'll eat the internet if I am.[/QUOTE]

Yeah its getting slightly annoying to say the least, how hard is it to take some screenshots and upload them? They seem to maintain theyre "oh so busy" but for all this twitter bs they could have uploaded some screens or a video multiple times over.

Its also annoying how theyre dancing around the issue of telling us why support for a fov setting was apparently canned and what the actual fov in the game is. Isn't it strange when devs get answered straightforward questions that they somehow can't comprehend it and word their responses so it actually doesn't answer anything? Must be a part of getting into game development, "when foot has been placed firmly in gob, evade everything"

Whilst I would like the early beta access from the website doing it with preorder, the other well known site is doing the CE but doesn't seem to have beta access. Anyone know if there is somewhere out there doing both? I also have a Fileplanet account so could get the beta from there, albeit not early access.

End of the day changing the subject a little, i must say that every1 i know who has played BETA really enjoyed it... hell i love it!

If we dont get beta then we dont... either way i cant wait for this game to come out!

What the fudge is FOV @ 60? is it how we see the surroundings

Field of View @ 60 degrees, it smacks of straight console port tbh, all we need now is a twitter release to tell us the PC version has great additions like mouse/KB support and custom graphics and I think the circle is complete.

Dice have proper stitched us up tbh, All that ******* nonsense they spouted at the time MW2 was released (what was it "dont worry PC gamers, we've your your back" ?) was just hollow marketing *****

Seems like another OpFor2/MW2 release to me, all the bad new flows a few weeks before release after months of omitting the truth. Hopefully I'm wrong, love Battlefield :(

tbh I still think it will be a good game, its just disappointing that their promise of a proper console>PC conversion was utter hogwash. At least (as far as we know) its still got SADS

The bottom line is though they know they can do this, the PC market is starved of games and will lap any amount of rubbish up, just look at MW2.

Ive already made the decision to not bother with upgrading anymore, once this rig has come to the end of its gaming life its will be kept alive as my CAD station but i'm not spending £750+ a year on something that sees 1 or 2 decent titles every 12 months.

Eventually ATI and NV will have to step in imho or loose their market (I am aware both make GPU's for the consoles, so probably even they dont give a monkeys) I find it ironic that one arm of MS is assisting in the annihilation of the other arm

It will be fun for a month or two before the hackers and general anti noob/extreme gamers community sucks all the fun out of it. By then the console nature of the game will show its got nothing to offer beyond a month.

I'm still going to give them the benefit of the doubt until the 28th when I get access to the beta. I know I'm going to love this game but the two issues that can make it or break it are still the dedicated servers as in does Finland get those. They only mentioned Western/Eastern Europe and strictly speaking no Nordic country belongs to either of those though in many cases Western Europe includes all the Nordic countries too. I'm not going to play another game with 70ms+ latency like I did with MW2. It's just not fun in the long run. The difference in playability between MW2 (P2P with high latencies) and MW1 (local dedicated servers) is quite stunning.

The second deal breaker is still the FOV. Remains to be seen. MW2 had terrible FOV but still, few games managed to go beyond that: Operation Flashpoint 2 and Borderlands. Those two were absolutely unplayable. I can't imagine one person in the development team being happy with the FOV but somehow they still released those games with the FOV they had. Luckily Borderlands allowed you to change it though not through options but by editing files. I shouldn't be forced to edit files to make a game playable/to not experience headaches and other silly things, but I appreciate the fact I was able to do even that.

Where exactly has it been said that the fov is set to 60? Dice havn't even mentioned the setting as of yet so wheres this magical "60" coming from?

And just in case anyone missed it heres dice's differing point of view, they done a total 180 in the few weeks from dec to jan.

quote from december

We support Eyefinity and with a wider FOV, although the integration isn't fully done & tested just yet.

I don't think it will be unfair in MP, saying it would be would be the same as saying it would be unfair for someone to have a really high mouse precision so he can run and super-quickly turn around and as such see everything that is going on around him. But that is obviously something we all accept.

We have to do more testing and see how it turns out, but I'm not worried.

twitter quote from january

The FOV is built for the ideal experience, we want all players to experience the same FOV especially in MP for balance

How exactly do they support eyefinity if the fov is likely going to mess it up and just stratch the image across 3 screens?
