Wheel Clamp Fallen Off, What To Do With It?

There was a clamp on my car. It seems to have fallen off , it's not damaged at all! I've called the bloke that owns it and asked if he wanted it back. He got ratty and said he's calling the police.

What should I do with it? I said to him that I will drop it off at the Police station, are they going to be ok with that, what do I say?

I just don't want to be done for stealing it!
