As per the title which would be better.

This is what I tend to do with my machine. Play a few games mostly COD4 Modern Warfare, very little video edit but do some. Coding and Web design are my main areas so illustrator and photoshop and visual studio.

Both setups will use mobos in the £50-£60 region and 4GB ram and most likely run on Win 7 at the end of the day.

Thoughts please

965 due to higher stock clock and newer socket with available upgrades in the future.

And try to stretch budget on mobo for the asus 785 evo at least for the 965be.

PhenomII x4 965 BE would be better @ stock. In honesty tho for gaming and photoshop an E8400 would be better. Overclock it to 4GHz and it it'll chew those tasks fairly easily. Even tho it is only a dual core, it outpaced/matched the lower end intel quads in most things.
The advantage with the phenomII 965 is that AM3 will have hex cores released later in the year.

That will work.

That more expensive board had crossfire,usb3 and sata6Gps if you think its worth extra
