Anyone know why frankie Boyle isn't on mock the week any more?

Was watching my favourite news programme last night only to notice that frankie Boyle no longer appears on the show and was replaced by someone else does any one know why or think any reason they would get rid of the funniest comedian on the show?

Yes, he quit when he was asked to apologize for a joke he made and the BBC wouldn't stand by him when he refused.

He was the funniest guy on there.

But if you remember a few episodes he said he was an ex-alcoholic. However I think he relapsed one night and his wife/gf left (maybe cause and effect are the other way round). He then got fired from the BBC.

Edit, hmm, we all have different stories.

Edit 2 - think my story might be garbage. Apparently he said he wanted to do other things; the BBC were also too restrictive on him and the show's content.

Aye not a great deal of funnies left in Mock the Week now, that being said though I'm surprised how consistently funny David Mitchell is, him and Charlie Brooker were an awesome duo on Quiz of the Year.

Yes, the argument was that she wasn't a celebrity and shouldn't be expected to take abuse on the tele over her appearance as a result. At least that's what her publicist said...

Think he also said she would have to be extremely dirty in bed with a face like that.

From what i remember he made the joke ages ago and nothing happened then she must have finally saw it and then there was complaints.

To be honest he was telling the truth.

He used to be funny, but did anyone else feel he got a little boring after a while? I found a lot of his humour to just be on the Bernard Manning level, just plain offensive and not all that clever.
A good example of a real shock comedian would be Jimmy Carr, he's actually witty.

I agree, he just wasn't funny any more, just being crass and offensive for the sake of it. But he was being give more 'reign' and air time, he was taking over the show.

I laughed more at the new MtW than I have done for a long time
