Terror alert raised

If they raise it to say that you are safe with us, could some that are already hacked off with Labour think that by raising the threat level they are in fact less safe and give them more inclination to vote Lib Dem or Tory ?

Just a thought.

Can't be that major, would have been more of a fuss made about it.

Doesn't mean anything and I sometimes wonder why they even changed the alert codes to make it easier for the public to read.

What good does that do? Cause panic? Mental.

I never understand terror alerts, or more specifically, why the public needs to know: Surely it's something that should be in an MI5/MI6 office, where they actually need to know. What is the average citizen going to do with the added hysteria? "Oh, there's a severe threat? Then I shall not goto the corner shop for eggs and milk, black coffee and cereal it is. Infact, I probably shouldn't leave the house for work."

I wonder if that would be a viable reason for having a day off work? "Hi, can't make it in today, terror alert is upto severe....I'm frightened."

You should have seen it the other week, the terror alert was 90! Honestly, they could measure it in teapots and ********** for what it actually means to the public. :p

Go to blue alert.

I would just feel more comfortable if I know that we're all on our toes, ’cos everyone's aware that it's a blue alert situation.

Is there a .gov website that gives the current threat level, how did the OP come to find this?

It's called News. You can find it on a lot of News websites. BBC might be a good place to start.

EDIT: Oh my god there is actually a legitimate site to scare people. Wow

Gordon Brown's plot to declare a national emergency and suspend the elections indefinitely (only way he'll stay in power short of election fraud). :D

"The current terrorism threat level is Substantial

This means that a terrorist attack is a strong possibility"

Oh substantial, whats the point of these things, 9/10 nothing will ever happen, is it maybe to cover their ass if the wrong person was in the wrong time and get the legs n arms blown off and then tries to sue saying "you didnt warn me a terror threat was a strong possibility so i wouldn't blah blah blah..."

no no no, we were on Blue alert, now we're going to red alert and thus, we need to change the bulb, as Tefal has already pointed out :D

Can we really trust a party that believed that September 11th 2001 was 'a good day to bury bad news'?

Or Hiding bad news on expenses behind other announcements?

Not forgetting this is the party that gave us the dodgy dossier.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw John Prescott and his two jags...

Lord Myners has ruled out Britain adopting President Barack Obama's radical banking reforms in what could amount to a fillip for the City of London.
the ydont want to change the rules.

"This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, but I should stress that there is no intelligence to suggest than an attack is imminent."

So are you hedging your bets. ;)

Oh come on... You keep posting all of this generic negativity widely applicable to any politician, or to any political party, yet speak about these traits as if they are the exclusive property of Gordon and Labour.
