Where do you do this ?
Just that may not work for some extensions so you need to add a new Boolean entry with a value of False
Add:
extensions.checkUpdateSecurity
And make sure
extensions.checkCompatibility
Is false
Your Addons extensions page should show this at the top:

Cheers, ill give it a whirl, i wan't my foxdie theme back on 
Woohoo it works, i just added the bolean extension check for 3.6, set it to false, and my foxdie theme now works again

all set to false. The Add-ons page shows that add-on update security checking is disabled, and I may have incompatible add-ons. And the 5 add-ons I have that don't work still say 'Not compatible with firefox 3.6 and I can't enable them
Edit: Also tried downloading the latest Nightly Tester Tools (2.0.3) And that's saying its Not compatible with Firefox 3.6 as well.

Unnecessary now. The one with 3.6 at the end superseded this one.
At the moment I'm really regretting going through with this update
I've got more addons not working than I do working. I've tried to fix All-in-One gestures by uninstalling/reinstalling it, then using a fix mentioned on the add-ons page about editing the install.rdf file to change the max version number, and installed it again. And it still won't enable. Nightly Tester Tools doesn't seem to be doing much, though admittedly I'm not entirely sure how to use it. Clicking 'enable' on any of the disabled extensions just does nothing. And strangely, clicking 'Disable' on any of them does the 'this addon will be disabled when firefox is restarted' routine, but when I restart Firefox its still enabled. Just without the image next to it, like with ChatZilla in the picture there.
