Looks like steam is the way to go. Going to have to pre-order it now lol. For those wondering about steam integration, I think it's best to just presume there won't be full integration. This is probably the case. Valve games are normally the only ones with total integration anyway.
It's worth it though for the automatic updating alone imo (unless it gets delayed for weeks after retail version aka Arma 2 1.05).

and like bf2 if all the good servers use that punkbuster mod that md5 checks the game exe you wont be able to play on those servers without beeing kicked unless you have the original cd version

Was thinking of getting Mass Effect 2 from there as well, bought a few games and had 0 trouble. It even uses 100% of my connection on release day (which is more than I can say for Steam!)

What's happened to Battlefield 1943? Has that been cancelled in favour of this now?
If it has they own me and I guess a lot of others a refund.
I have played BF2 for years and i literally have never seen that happen!! There must be about 5 people who play like that and try and spoil it especially for u!
Diving to ground during a firefight is fine in my opinion, that sort of bouncing is as rare as a purple shirt giving good PC advice!
I'd be fine with it if it had any resemblance to real life diving. As in it really takes few seconds after you start diving before you can actually do anything like going for iron sights or start aiming. That's where diving in games fails.
Well you and me must be playing totally different games then, you must also be playing a different game from dice who have tried to fix prone spamming in the past. Id imagine you're also playing a different game from the tons of servers with admins who kick at the slightest sign of people bouncing around the map, and who have warnings in massive text not to prone spam.
Strangely enough its one of the things most often complained about bf2 but obviously it never happens that much..

The way this ad is worded sounds like 28th is the early access, maybe they intend to open up the beta to everyone later on

What a farce this is. It should be an open beta for the pc considering they haven't bothered about this format for a few years.
I think play were the first retailer in the UK to have the beta access, so they worded it, if you pre-order from them that you will have the exclusive access to the beta.
On the 26th Play email you the code and where to download the beta, once it's live on the 28th.
I'll pre-order from play.
It's going to be really interesting to see how this shapes up and runs on the pc.
I think if you don't expect a revolutionary game then it will be good.
As it is basically a console port.
