How does the Q6600 fair against i3/i5/i7

Troll Image

Wayne why do you selectively not answer my questions....?

I mean I know why and all that...( as you know your are wrong) but at least play the game?

I would argue that your AMD fest pimp ejaculations are trolling.

You are trying to invite people to buy AMD when in all honesty intel offer the better option for them.

You, of course, do not care on what is best for them...Only them buying into the brand you pimp.

This is trolling..

I can easily destroy your claims and advice based on true facts and scenarios..that not only offer value, but performance.

I think I read last night from you that in fact you suggested that a Q6600 user should "upgrade" and buy a Athlon II 620?

If you think this is good practice and sound advice...then carry on trolling

Well, I will be going from a Q6600 to an I3 530. Might seem like an odd move, but have my reasons.

Things have gotten so expensive since I was last in market to buy stuff - especially memory. At one point, getting 8GB memory was a no brainer, now it's kinda bank breaking :(

Good move tbh, reviews show that a stock 530 is faster than a Q6, even in multi threaded stuff.

So you are getting better performance, less heat, and less power draw, and better overclocking.

The only OCing will do on it it is to push as far as it will go on stock volts, which hopefully will be close to 3.5, but will have to see.

But yeah, the fact that it outperforms a stock Q6600 at stock, with all the other benefits is what pushed me to it.

It's the fact that I just don't like my current motherboard that's made me upgrade, as I plan to get back into a bit of gaming.

So got the I3 and Asus P7H55-M Pro - and I am so looking forward to moving back to an Asus board :)

Pretty much every comment I have noticed from you

Just an observation, but have been hovering around the CPU section for a couple of days now, seeing if there was any advice that would help me decide between AMD/Intel, and have certainly noticed your posts regarding AMD.

I don't know if it's a recent thing for you, but you seem to desperately be trying to push people to AMD. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that, but it all comes across as a sales pitch, rather than good advice.

I have been going back and forth over my choice, and while I actually did want to go AMD just for a change, when it came down to looking at what was on offer, Intel simply have the better product overall, and often not costing much more. In my case, with the I3 530.

Not that AMD offer bad products. But they certainly are a little behind the curve.

So I am really just curious about your pro AMD/ down Intel stance. Is there a reason for it?

Hey ffallic,

hows it going man? :D

errr . . . not quite sure what to make of your post? . . . is there something that is bothering you if so just come right out and say it geeza? :p

Going well thanks.

It's not that there is anything bothering me as such.

Like I said in my post, it's just an observation that you seem to be pro-AMD to a fault. I was just wondering if you had some personals vendetta against Intel?

Maybe I am just just reading things wrong, but at the moment you have come across (to me) somewhat like Tom Cruise on Operah confessing his undying love of Katie Holms, when it comes to AMD.

EDIT:
PS - not looking for a fight here. I'm a pacifist really. I just like ot understand people's motivations :)

ah that's a relief . . . you was acting all fidgety then! ;)

it's just an observation
 (me) <<<<<<<<<<<< (ffallic watching my every move)

A vendetta is a blood-feud between families or other parties

Feuds begin because one party (correctly or incorrectly) perceives itself to have been attacked, insulted or wronged by another. Intense feelings of resentment trigger the initial retaliation, which causes the other party to feel equally aggrieved and vengeful. The dispute is subsequently fuelled by a long-running cycle of retaliatory violence.

errrr, no not really! :p

I'll have to contemplate that one a bit more . . . I do think they have been over-charging me (and everyone else) for my toys maybe and I'm just-a-bit-curious what the details of this $1.25 *BILLION* dollar anti-trust settlement was about . . . aren't you?

Maybe I am just just reading things wrong
I can only imagine you are, either that or your just not sure what to make of me and your have defaulted to suspecting I am a Pod-Person from the planet mars comes to eat you? . . . . grrrr! ;)

Ahhhhh!!! :o

I can't believe you just said that!

Good one, your funny! :D

not looking for a fight here
rah too late for that now . . .cmon then I'll bite your teeth out :)

I'm a pacifist really

Ohhh your on a deep one, contemplating life on the tree of woe! (conan the barbarian btw!)

Honestly mate, I'm flattered that you noticed me in this sea of silicon junkies, thanks!

Wayne has admitted to pimping AMD so your observations are correct.

He actually suggested that an "upgrade" from a Q6600 to a Athlon II 620 was a good idea can you believe.

No, I am pimping AMD Athlon II because they are superb bits of kit that get the job done and are affordable . .

You have no idea what is my replationship with AMD unless you are a mind-reader!

Scarey stuff..A relationship with AMD....I just thought we were consumers :p

Hey Pneumonic, I am oblivious to what is being said . . as long as people don't quote the greebelly I'm none the wiser! :D

I was actually gonna pop over to your thread today and see how you were getting on with your Pod-racer! ;)

I did read through it the other day but I was utterly noobed out by what was going on . . . seemed like you had one or two friendly helpers .. .whoooosh!

I hope they found the issue was not the cpu as i think i've just bought it from them in the MM!:eek::eek:

Think he found it was the RAM in the end that had died - but bought a replacement CPU before working that out hence why its up for sale.

Don't worry the Q6600 is pretty much bullet proof - you can't actually kill one IMO without actually setting out to purposely do so...

Until proved otherwise I still don't reccomend over 1.4 for 24x7 tho I think gigabyte who I generally rate fairly reliable rate them for upto 1.46v or something for operation without abnormal failure.
