They go to get the last yogurt/bag of crisps from a pack of 8 for example. Once they have it, they simply leave the packaging where it is. For example they will leave the cardboard that holds the yogurts together in the fridge instead of putting it in the bin...

I do that, even with my own stuff in my own room :p.
It's filled with old packaging of drinks, etc...

Laziness...

No. Once something's finished with it tends to go in the recycling bin.

They do have a habit of leaving one of whatever the pack was though. Say it was a packet of biscuits; all the biscuits will be eaten in one sitting excluding one or two.

i do this all the time, i feel really bad about doing it and my family are forever moaning but i go around in such a daze absorbed in thinking about this that or the other that i just do it absent-mindedly :(

I'm always having to kick up a fuss about people in work doing this, how hard is it to place the empty packaging in the bin that is usually only a few feet away !

Harder than just dropping something where it came form or in this case not touching it at all just leaving it where it is :p.

Why would people not put the packaging in a bin? How far's a bin away from you when in a kitchen, or any room in a house? :\

I have 2 bins within reach from my pc as I can't be bothered to empty them out so often, yet it's still easier to drop or leave packaging where it is than to put it in the bin :p.

lol, I do this too, my room is only really clean 1 day a week.

I just don't get it, tbh. Why don't you take a bin bag from the kitchen (/wherever you store that kinda thing) every-so-often, whenever you remember, and empty the bins in your bedroom. Meh, aren't you a tad embarrassed when anyone sees your room? Shame's a wonderful motivator!

Because I just don't feel like doing that. I cba to empty the bin every 1 or 2 week, so I bought a 2nd ( and bigger) bin so I only have to empty them once per 5 weeks or so.

I don't have any shame if it comes to my room, it's my room, why should I care what people think about it, as long as I feel comfy in it :).
