A friends birthday, we're dying for some mainland fun

So as we have friends in Bristol, we thought we'd go there for the weekend.
We're going to do Go-karting - what else is there to do during the day?

Not much.

There's the new aquarium and the zoo of course if your in to that sort of thing and Cabot Circus is the place to go if you want to do some shopping.

Bristol isn't really the most exciting place on earth to visit for the day.

Go to st pauls and ask one of the lovley ladies if they have anyting you can do. I'm sure they have some ideas.

But seriously, at the moment theres the Skins house party 2 weeks in lots of clubs, Link, and their pretty ace. They're a great night. See you there ;)

Other than that, if you want to spend lots of money, there's plenty of shops that can assist, if you're into sight seeing then you can do a nice walk around all of the docks ect, some nice pictures to be taken if you're into that.

Other than that, not much.

Where the IMAX used to be, Blue reef, right next door to @Bristol, looks fab, need to get myself there sometime soon!

*Looks on the map* Ohhh, its right next to at Bristol, well if the weather is crap on the weekend, il go have a look. Anyone been there? £13 admission is a bit steep if its pants.

It was 27 quid when it first opened back in October!

Is everyone a similar age to you (26)? That'll affect some of the suggestions.

SS Great Britain - aside from the actual GB you can do a cruise on the Matthew which is supposed to be really good fun - www.ssgreatbritain.org
Bristol ice rink - www.jnll.co.uk/bristol.php
Clifton suspension bridge. Also the White Lion pub which overlooks the bridge if the weather's nice.
Cabot Circus - the main shopping centre/area. There's an indoor crazy golf thing there and the deluxe cinema to pass some time.
Aquarium, as has been said - www.bluereefaquarium.co.uk/bristol.htm
Bristol Zoo - www.bristolzoo.org.uk

If you're like most normal male 26 year olds and just want to go on pub crawls then I'm sure we can suggest a few :p.

When're you going to be there?

This website has just been launched by some mates of mine - while it's national, it's based in Bristol so lots of the listings are local: http://www.theloveofit.co.uk/events.php?month=02&year=2010

Bristol becomes an ever-more pleasant place to be the closer to summer you get, lots of nice pubs and places to loaf about in/walk around.

I love my city, I seem to find enough things to keep me way too busy in it :p

Thanks all

Range from 26-38

SS Great Britain - we do enough with boats so don't think it'll hold the same wonder
Ice rink - great idea!
Cabot Circus sounds good, we're all grown men yet shopping excites us, what with us never going

We've got Friday night and Saturday night to do the pubs... recommendations?

A bit of action, as we've been stuck with the single pub for the last year! But nothing overly dirty!!

And ditto, I went on Oceana's opening week, it was awesome!

Isn't nearly every club the same?

Half the fun is oggling at the ransaked 18 year olds with nothing more than a wide belt on for a skirt and a boob tube.

Either way I'd recommend Clifton Village, even though I am slightly biased :p.

There's 10+ pubs all within a one minute walk, including the "infamous" Coronation Tap which sells their Exhibition cider (~9%). Most are fairly "upmarket" but always a good crowd and there's always a nice busy feel to everywhere, and never 'local people only'. There's a load of restaurants in the area as well for some decent food before/after.

Sounds perfect, where do I go to find this?

Awesome, sounds perfect. I take it that's the also known as Cory Tap? Cliffton Village it is! Out on Fri or Sat?
