After transferring my components to a new case, ive got a few sharkoon silent eagle fans spare about that could do with a clean. Would it be ok to clean the blades with isopropyl alcohol, due to the dimples on the blades theyre a wee bit grubby and hard to clean with a cloth. I was thinking of an old tooth brush to give them a scrub.

furniture polish works good ;)

contains natural bees wax aswell so aids airflow by giving the surface less friction and stops crap sticking to them.

Tried a bit of polish and a wet wipe on the few fans i had to clean, brought them up like new. Cheers guys.

if i'm thinking correctly, stringed instrument players put bees wax on their strings to create more friction, so wouldn't this principle apply in the same way?

No, waxing a bow is a bad idea, you need to use Rosin (which sometimes contains small amounts of wax, but not much) which aids friction. Wax alone would make things worse.

Managed to get them cleaned, they werent really to bad, just that having white dimpled blades made them a wee bit harder to clean, smoking in the same room probably didnt help, though ive since stopped smoking in the house.
