Hey guys, I need to know whether I will have to purchase a new PSU for my new system.

This is what I intend to run:

2 x 4870 512MB
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping 2.66Ghz
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz)
3 x Sata 2 HDD
1 x Optical Drive

There is a psu calculator on antecs website. Stuck your system and it said it recommends at least a 450W psu, so yes no problems with a 625W! Actually I bet it will be in a nicely efficient range for the psu so you should be in the 82% area.

Actually reading the review of the psu on spcr it shows it is 88.2% efficient at 300W and 85.5% efficient at 500W. So you should get somewhere between there, seems nice and quiet too for a psu of such a high rating.

Thank you very much mate, I have never understood what the 82+ actually stands for! I got that it is the "efficiency" rating, but have no idea what that translates to!

More efficient means it will use less power, produce less heat and thus it will be quieter running. Its a good thing all round!
