Quick question would I see much difference in picture quality from a DVI-D connection and an HDMI in PC games ect.

The reason I ask is I like the look of the Benq 24" Monitor the G2420HDBL I think it is but ideally I would like a monitor with HDMI also for future proofing.

There is no difference in quality when viewing from a dvi or hdmi side by side.

Both are superior to D-sub in quality though.

I was of the understanding that the only major/distinguishable feature or benefit (at the moment) of having HDMI was that it can carry digital audio where DVI cannot.. so I guess it all depends if the monitor you are using has inbuilt speakers that you wish to use.

Will there be any difference between DVI-D to DVI-D as opposed to DVI-D to HDMI conversion cable? Will there be any loss during the process?

I have been using my laptop to watch videos on my TV. Currently using D-Sub, but the laptop has Display Port.

Would I be better off using a Display Port to HDMI cable, or is D-Sub as good? Telly is 32" LCD 1366 x 768 (assuming 720p), will accept 1080p input.

The d-sub is outdated and lacks in quality compared to dvi, hdmi & displayport.

Video over hdmi & dvi is more crisp compared to d-sub, atleast that's what i notice.

D-sub is an analogue signal iirc. So my understanding is the graphics card will have to convert digital to analogue to send the signal, then the signal will be converted from analogue to digital when it hits your monitor/tv.. which results in a small quality loss.
