Hello

As we are in our last year of school, a few friends and myself are in the process of trying to organise a small 7 day break in summer to have a bit of fun before we go our separate ways to university.

We are after a hot place, preferably with nice beaches but also a lot to do i.e. we won't be lazing on the beach 24/7, so we need shops or local activities.

Budget per person is something like £200-300, no more.

I really want to go to Nice and the Southern France area, but it seems really expensive, so have been looking at Turkey and Spain. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be welcome.

Also, we'd prefer to avoid areas that are really 'touristy' - we just want a quiet getaway!

Anyone here done something similar, and if so, where did you go and how did you book it all?

Turkey is extremely cheap, but unfortunately jam packed full of loud British people which can make it rather unpleasant.

Greece might be a better option, or Italy?

Maybe try out of season? Cheaper, still warm (e.g t-shirt and shorts weather), bugger all tourists about...

Me and a load of friends rented a villa in spain for 10 days late in the year, wasn't that much between us and it was great!

The Peloponnese is a great place, plus, as an added bonus, you can get to take photos of yourselves shouting "Madness? I'm in SPARTAAAAAAAA!"

7 days abroad in a hot place with a beach for £2-300 per person in the summer? A flight would surely cost half of that on its own.

For this budget maybe driving would be the best idea. If you could all fit into one banger and slog it down to the S of France, crossing the channel via the cheapest available method, then you needn't spend loads if you live in a tent and drink supermarket booze. The Atlantic beaches SW of Bordeaux are pretty good especially if you like surfing.

PS Croatia's really nice on a (relative) budget, but £2-300 is just ridiculous.

Can be done, I went on my first holiday with my mates to Tenerife for about £220 for a week including flights, hotel wasn't even that bad!

You will have an enormous struggle with that budget. Remember this is peak season, school holidays, even last minute allocation on arrival with night flights won't be cheap.

Hell, I went to Hong Kong with some friends for £300 each (before spending money) :D

As said I'd definitely try and go out of season, I usually go in March-April. Might not be possible for you with exams though.
