Has anyone gone back to uni to do a unrelated masters after they have spent 6 years working?

How did you find it? was it a hard transition. This will be back in halls of residence (I think).

is there any funding/grants you can get?

I'm intending to return to uni at some point, I didn't finish the first time. I don't think I could do halls again though - I'd feel so old.

Not sure I'd want to go back in halls of residence.

Depends on your age but I'd go for a house as the thought of all the freshers running around having orgies while you work on an essay isn't fun.

Live in a shared house? ;) Join the club, I'm older than 95% of today's graduates. :p

You mean the noise they make copulating?

TBH i'm not sure what it is, but accommodation and tuition fees are paid for. So I'm assuming halls, as that is cheap.

Not necessarily, in my experience the universities charge a premium compared to what you can hunt down in the private rental market. Of course, if you're deemed eligible for grants etc than this becomes less of an issue.

I've be very surprised if they put you in a hall with freshers, unless you end up being some kind of block pastoral tutor?

You might find some halls have an annexe where older students live - I lived in the same hall for my fresher year and my final year - but in different buildings... the 'older' building was equally fun, just not full of hyper freshers - which was very nice.

I know at Plymouth, ROyal Holloway and I think Imperial they do seperate areas/Halls for masters and Phd students. As for grants and funding I think you'll only find them coming from the uni itself. How many people do they sponser on that course?

I'm looking to do a masters next year so hoping to get sponsorship from the uni.
