Thinking of getting a 5770, currently have a 512 meg 4850. Simple question worth the upgrade??

GOt a q9450, win 7, 4 gig ddr2 ram

thanks

Only game at 1280 at the moment, make any difference? Intend to get a "20 + soon though.

Any new Nvidia mid price cards out soon?

You will notice the difference, but I really think you should look at the 5850. I went from 4870 to the Sapphire 5850 and it's a great piece of hardware with a MAJOR increase in FPS and smoothness.

If you're going to upgrade, you want two things - to see a significant difference in FPS, plus enough GPU power to see you through the next couple of years.

EDIT - You're only gaming at 1280? Definately not worth upgrading at all then. 20"+ monitor? Then go 5850.

I love how everyone says go 5850, not everyone wants to throw £220 at a graphics card :p

You'll see a bit of a boost, check benchmarks for 4870 v 4850 (as the 4870 = ~5770) and see if you think the boost is worth the money. Also it'll run cooler, quieter and with requires less power, just don't base things on running DX11, the card won't really perform well enough to use full DX11 features.

to the OP I was/am in same situation although I have ordered a new monitor already 24" 1920x1080 so know my 4850 is gonna struggle but my only real boost would be to go with a 5850, I was going to get a 4890 but after reading reviews/benches I felt it wouldnt be enough plus lack of dx11

I am now saving the extra to get a 5850, just hope it is ok with my asus p5ne-sli lol

It will run DX11 better than 4850\4870\4890.:D

Also you have facts that the 5770 won't run DX11 well enough?
