I join the 300bhp club next week.

Sell it get something else IMO. A ST struggles with 220 bhp, with the heavy 5 cylinder engine upfront. VXR is going to be pap, sorry.

As the OP has already mentioned more than once he has Stage 2 already with ~ 285BHP. He knows what to expect. With the addition of the Quaife ATB LSD it will be a lot better.

Princey - I note that you will be having the map activated by the Sport button, do courtenay charge extra for this?

Does it? How much do you really know about the ST? Of course you are aware that the "heavy" 5 cylinder engine is aluminium, right?

It's the worse FWD car for understeering I've owned due to the heavy front end. It is at its limit with stock power prior to upping the power. So in a VXR it's going to be even worse :)

Well the VXR is a completely different car, so I'm not entirely sure how you make that comparison?

Also, how do you come to the conclusion that the heavy (aluminium) engine is responsible for the understeer?

Was your car modified in any way?

I just don't experience the same issue that you do, its certainly not discernibly worse than any other powerful FWD car I've owned (And I've had a few!), and that's with 275bhp!

What are you comparing to, out of interest?

Came from a ST170, to a Mini Cooper S, E46 330ci x2 to a ST3. ST170 was the better of the FWD cars because the Mini for the short period I owned was on run flat tyres. E46 feels much more planted but it should be being RWD.

Hrm, is it possible your time with the BMWs is clouding your judgement on it?

I mean, I'm not claiming the ST doesn't understeer, but I can honestly say it's not something I even consider these days, as I'll either know the limit is approaching, or I'll drop off into a bit of LOOS. If it was considerably worse than any of my previous cars, it is something that would have caught me out.

I'll be sure to take more notice next time I'm out for a proper blast though.
