As there's one for photography and have seen the occasional film posted from time to time I thought there should be a thread for videos. I'll kick start it with a fashion promo that I directed for a friend of mine:

Will appreciate it if you could post some thoughts and films of yours.

Cool little video. I'm confused about the title though I must say.

Unfortunately my camera doesn't record video. Balls.

It is the title of my friends project so I thought as the person marking, and peers would already know the point of it that I wouldn't need to add in the title 'Victoria Smith - Fashion Promo' and instead use images and titles she has used throughout the project. Unfortunately people outside of her course won't know that so it does look out of place on a website like vimeo or youtube.

What camera are you using at the moment? I'm aiming to get something like a 5D MK2, or Z1 once I have started working after my course, very different cameras but I think the allowance of lens with the 5D is very tempting as well as stills photography.

Do you study at AUCB? I shot Tora last saturday!

The only video i've done with my 5D2 was this Merlin Stedicam test ( http://vimeo.com/3549678 ) as I'm far too busy using it for stills. I'l be doing a video in the next few weeks (Well two infact, though one just as a test) gods grace permitting. I still rent my camera out to the odd cinematography student. Can't get enough of the full frame + L glass!

I'm at BU but my friend is at the AUCB, and that is very random. Are you there, what are you studying?
The image from a 5DMK2 is very outstanding, i'm very jealous you have that camera! We have the possibility of using an EX3 or HVX200 next year for on-location, but from what i've seen the picture quality isn't as big a leap as I had hoped (they're still nice though).

I'm studying Commercial photography :) I'm lucky because the lighting at Uni is pretty much the only thing I have to rely on them for. Booking some of the kit out is a nightmare sometimes so having my own really pays dividends. The MK2 was a commitment but it's honestly been worth every penny, and paid for itself in no time.

I've got a friend sending me down a glidetrack in the next week or so. So once i've shot a little video of my flat and gotten to grips with it i'll try and incorporate it into my next project (The brief suggests animation, but a nice video would be so much better). At the moment it's not the shooting that's the issue, it's having enough time to get to grips with Premiere! Next two weeks is London, Bournemouth, London, New York, London, Bournemouth!

Awesome, do you know emily passmore or elise price? I'm not sure if it's commerical photography they're taking. I think we were in Studio One? You've got a decent set of lights to use in there. What's the project about?

That glide track looks interesting and I can see it being a very nice feature and easy to carry about. I've never seen one like that before, but a coursemate has made his own out of wood, rollerblade wheels and plastic piping which I used on the fashion promo, for something that cost £20 to make it was damn impressive. Am hoping that my group will be up for hiring out a 5DMK2 at the end of this term for our last Drama piece.
All of that travelling in two weeks? Where do you get the time and money!?

Sorry can't say I know either of them. Yeah you were in Studio 1 judging by the surroundings. The lights we have for Studios 1-4 is all Broncolor kit, and is essentially the absolute dogs danglies. To say I was impressed on the open day was a severe understatement.

Tell you what I'l drop you an email to trust. Keep this thread on topic. I'm sure there will be something you can teach me about this moving image tomfoolery!

Sounds good mate :) Although i've just realised the email in my trust is an old one which no longer works...i've updated it to my current one.

Our production group at uni have been working on a couple of projects this term, first is a documentary called 'The Sci-Fi Ball', the title says it all really, a look at a weekend sci fi event with interviews from organisers, sci fi actors and attendees:

We've filmed an 8 minute drama aswell which is currently being edited, it's called Meden Agan, in short it's about a time travelling eastern european lottery winner. I'll post it when it's completed.
