First time road kill

hit a rabbit once, came round a corner and there were a few on the other side of the road, all but one decided to head the right way back in to the fields, split second later and thump.

I once had a customer come in to the body shop I was working in at the time with a suzuki supercarry van that had been written off by a pheasant, he hit it at 70 ish on the motorway and it mashed the front of the van in to the extent that he couldnt depress the throttle pedal fully !

Worst one for me was a rabbit, in my old e36 convertible, late at night driving home with the roof down.

It seemed to leap out of no where, bounce off the bonnet and land twicting on the back seat after hitting the rear headrest. Nearly ^&%& myself there and then :(

was not nice cleaning blood off the cream leather interior. Freaked me out big time lol

I hit a bird in a 30 going to the shops, came back later and it was gone.

Either was dazed or a cat's gone off with it.

Doubt it, I hit a fox with the sump of my dad's old Rover at about30-40mph, snapped it's neck, busted it's skull and it was laying their blood pouring out of it's mouth, rather dead.

I was going as fast as the rabbit could run. I'd been following it for a bit, then a bike came the other way, it got scrad, stood up and froze. So about 20.

1 blackbird :(

I saw a black flash as it swooped down in front of the car and then a big feathery explosion eminating from the tarmac, in my rear view mirror.

I've saw a blackbird fly into the side of a passing car once. It must have broken it's neck as it bounced off under a parked car and flapped about for a while, unable to get up :(

I hit a pidgeon at 50 mph the other day, it came from nowhere and flew right across the fromt of me, it looked like abig pillow fight had happend, i felt sad for the bird, but when i got home i felt sad for me as it had put a real nasty crease in the bonnet of my brand new mondeo.

Pics or it did'nt happen ...

Funniest roadki I've ever seen was from a lad at work. Has an old alfa gtv and hit a partridge. Got to work and it was sat in the triangular grill still. The grill is sat in the workshop as a trophy lol. Was ridiculous how it had gotten crammed in there! :D

edit: I'll try and find the pictures, there's a few floating about on facebook I think

It was a common occurrence when I lived in North Yorkshire. I hit a pigeon as it took off, on my way to work one morning. It covered my bonnet/headlight in goo, it stank!

I sucked a blackbird into my front grill last year at, uh, 70mph. It was ******* disgusting. Still, not all bad... as 1 inch to the left and it would have caused £1,000's of fibreglass damage :o

my dad hit a deer in a old 7 series bmw,he was doing about 60 and the deer jumped a hedge and ran straight infront of his car,my dad said its head came off, not very nice. When he was telling people what had happened they all said did you keep it lol.

Hit a pheasant with my roof rack as it was a dumb one, would only run down the road away from me, not to the side, so drove faster than it could run to make it fly.

Took off into the roof rack didnt it, bounced off and landed back on the road OK.

Nearly hit a sheep on the Evo Triangle, that wouldnt have been good! Decided to make a break for it over the road when I was approaching (and I had slowed down too after seeing them) waited until I was almost passing and then went for it.:eek:

I ran over a cat once and heard it go round both wheels. Straight after everytime I turned right my car made a scraping noise. I didn't dare check as I thought it was the cats bones scraping. I made my girlfriend check and it turned out that my mud guard had come loose.

I ran over a cat the other month.
The worst was seeing it tumble down the road behind me.
I was running late so couldn't stop, but it wasn't there when i went back a few hours later.
Bloody thing ran out at the last moment after watching me for a second or so, so there wasn't a lot i could do :(

Thankfully it was in the Volvo so it was barely noticable. :o

what I'm feeling bad about at the moment is the amount of birds getting hit. i hit one the other day and seen it trying desperately to stay in the air but it just went down and was surely a goner

i'm surprised how some species can stay alive the rate we are killing them at

My dad almost ran over a peacock the other day, it ran out of a hedge/field/fence right in front of the car, cue an emergency brake from 30mph (no-one behind us)
