dominator V's xms3

ive narrowed my choise of memory to these 2, but i could do with further pro's and con's for each, maybe you could help me choose

i want either

the price makes no difference as they are so similar so just looking for best proformer, ive seen in some spec sheets that the dominator has a bus speed of 1600mhz where as the xms3 is only 800mhz, also the xms3 has a lower CAS

any help appreciated

Slightly better timings is all I can see. Can you afford the extra? Then splash that cash.

Get XMS3, they have worse heatsink but much better timings at the same speed so should overclock better. And believe me these DDR3 don't heat up really.

my ddr3 seems to heat up quite a lot tbh, and thats with the dhx heatsinks. then again it is very early ddr3 using 1.8 v to run at 1600mhz cas 9. also im not using a temp sensor, just my hand, and it feels warmer that id ahve imagined it/never noticed older ram to be that warm.

But, get the XMS3, better timings = more fun.

What ram cooler would anyone recommend for xms3? Is the corsair one, the best there is?

I would recommend no cooler. They are loud and fairly pointless unless you are planning on over-volting your RAM like nobodies business? I know, cooler is better, but if it is a choice between 0-1 degree temperature increase and the whine of those fans, I know what I'd take. Others will disagree, I have no doubt, but I just want to warn you of their whineyness before you take the plunge.

Ram cooling is pretty pointless unless you over volt them a LOT, as posted above.

teh corsair one sucks. It was alright when i first got it, couldnt hear it over the other fans etc. Within 1-2 months if it was one way up, the top fan would grate. Turn it round, all was fine. 3 months later the other fan did the same. I do still ahve it, but i dont use it. I arranged an RMA but couldnt even be assed as i dont want another one.
